"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

So, I"m in the chicken yard this weekend and I hear a lot of noise coming from the 55 gallon metal burn barrel. The noise does not stop. I cannot see in the barrel. So, I immediately think that a snake, raccoon, opossum, nutra or some other creature is trapped in there and can't get out and is waiting on me to talk over so that it can attack me. Well, I get closer and I look in. This is what I see. :/

I'm embarrassed. As much as I feed these animals, they resort to the trash for food.

Does anyone have any good deer meat recipes? My deep freeze is now packed full of deer sausage and ground deer/beef combo. I also have several packages of backstrap. It's been a long time since I've had deer in the freezer.
Thanks, Laurie

Dollar General had a 70% off clearance items and I lucked up and found a few things.

Halloween paper plates. $0.30 per pack. I bought 10 of them.

Halloween door mats were only $1.00. I bought 5 of them. They are heavy and thick.
1000

Bottles of Cinnamon for $0.13. I bought 7 of them.
1000

Lip Balm (rang up for $0.22) and Anit Gas Capsules (2) ( rang up for $0.75 (since we were talking about toot tooting and our beans last week) :lau

Pasta sauce. They were $0.10. I bought 17 of them.
1000

Salad Tongs - $0.35. I bought 7 of those.

Super 1 Sales
2 lb containers of Dannon Yogurt at Super 1. They only had 2 of them. They also had the Organic Stoneyfield - 2 lbs for $1.00. Only 1 left.
1000

I also scored 2 gallons of goat milk. They were $1.00 each. 1 Skim milk gallon for $0.75.

Super 1 also had turkeys on sale that were $0.50 a lb. I bought 4 of them to give away. I usually put together a box of food (Thanksgiving Dinner) and give away to a couple families who can't afford to buy any food, so the turkeys will be going to 4 families.

I had a long day of shopping. Talk about fun fun fun!!! :)

That's REALLY great that you do that for the families. Kinda balances out the crazy. LOL :lau

I had a guest that stayed with us bring deer with them. We don 't care for it except the sausage and ground with other meat. She brought the tenderloin. She marinated it over night in soy vay hoisin garlic marinade added a little olive oil pepper what ever you like. She seared it in a cast iron pan. Hot pan as hot as a wok. You know maybe cooking in the wok an adding vegetables might be another way to go. Any way searing with the marinade wAs very good. We all enjoyed it except Ron who say's he just doesn't like deer, except sausage or the ground meat. When I made burgers with it I add mushrooms chopped fine, this keeps the burger moist. Oh I almost forgot she had cut it in pieces like the size of stew meat. She also said any time she cooked the deer she marinates over night. Pam

Funny thing about God... He gave us all free will and can't by his own rules take that from the person trying to harm our kids. However, he did one better and leveled the playing field by giving parents the ability to protect them with inhuman powers. There are news stories about moms (95lbs or so) lifting cars off of kids, running threw glass and fire and never getting hurt, being shot in the head and still saving their kids, and so on. There is no doubt in my mind he gave us this reserve to protect the most innocent of his creation.

And, as His child, He will protect me and/or give me what I need. I put the shingles on my chicken shelter today. Before I did I added 4 more roof supports. After all, I built that roof and it was my first one and it has LOTS of flaws and I am not a little bitty fragile woman, so I it scared me a lot to climb on it to nail shingles. As it turned out, it did cave in a little, but I sort of was able to fix it. I really would like to know how to build the right way. Anyway, the point here was I prayed the whole time I was up there.

Yes, I really, really, really do want to. It's a goal of mine. Sounds crazy I know. :gig

Wednesdays are my treadmill days. I started a few months ago and have slowly increased the incline a bit and the speed. Last Wednesday I wanted to try to run a little on it but I've never run on a treadmill and want someone to give me pointers first. Of course I could walk out my door and do it. Hummm. Lol
