Well, I only lost one hen to fowl pox... Everybody is healed up and decided to let the quarantines free. They were soooo happy, running around, rolling and throwing dirt. Not really any introduction problems either. Glad to be done with that!!!
Great picture!
Well, I take it back. I will KIND of run when my husband puts the tea pot on the stove then turns the burner on. Only its the wrong burner......instead he turns on the burner where I just set a plastic container with cranberry sauce. I started smelling burning plastic. Nasty smell!
Mine follow me when I grab the shovel, rake or any other garden tool. WORMS! sometimes I don't even see the worm it's so small but they sure do chickens must have real good eye sight![]()
Great looking hens and you can's sneeze at 6 large eggs a week from her! She is a definite keeper! If you want blue or green EE hatching eggs, let me know, I will have plenty to share after molt ends.Excuse you, no pics please...
Ohhhhh yaaaaa, right there....get right up in my beard please I've got all sorts of bug parts in there for later from foraging earlier
Hey lady...I hear you give scratch(es) for eggs...
I got to play with the girls for awhile today. I enjoy days I get to hang with my lap girl lol
If there is ANY hint of a squat/bend of knee or shadow of my lap she's in it trying to cuddle and woo me. Weird chicken- but I love her lol her daughter is the splash in the last picthe fugly EE next to her (i love her-but whew her molt kicked her butt ) is the Boss hen after awhile of being bottom hen and relishing every moment lol, affectionately named Blue because we thought she'd lay us blue eggs lol doh . 6 jumbo (white/grey-ish) eggs a week. Every week, all seasons...best layer I've had so we kept her when we learned the difference between EEs and AMs and went on the hunt for wheatans

I would have rented those guys last week! Insomnia creeps up on old people like me and I love the looks of those great looking sheep! :LOL Thanks for sharing!
According to the arbor society and LSU who I bought them from, they do, but you have to have a cold winter with x number of chill hours during the winter before. The first 2 years we were here, it snowed quite a bit, but the just planted trees were too young and the last few years, not cold enough. If we get enough cold weather this winter, they probably will, I HOPE ! LOL The Bing should bear for the first time next year, for the first time, so I'll have to let you know.Does your apple bear fruit? I've been wanting to grow apples but I'm told they won't fruit. I'd also like to know how your bing cherry does here. I love bing cherries.
I think the black berries are wild all over the state.
Ron keeps cutting trees which I like my trees. To day he dangled planting more fruit trees if I let him cut a magnolia. That's a hard one Maybe if he plants five fruit for the magnolia.Pam![]()
Sounds like a great plan to me! We plan on tarps to roll up during the summer and tie and roll down on really bad winter temps., in the new provillion. 8 loads of soil hauled and packed, tapering to the drains, steering on tractor needs fixing as soon as parts arrive and then the whole building should go up in a weekend with 3 friends bringing their equipment, scaffolding and experience with them. Probably another week or two making cages and hanging then, maybe another putting in all the water and drainage lines, electric for fans, etc and the auto watering nipples and worm boxes. I asked for 38 cages, hubby said he is putting in 48, because he doesn't want to put on an addition for a few years and rabbit math is worse than chicken math! LOL The 11x14 incubator/brooder room and 11x10 processing A/C processing room with the 10' SS 3 compartment sink and 2 counters will go up next, then he will have the rabbits and wood out of his shop and we both will be happy campers!!! At last! He still has 2 dryers and a washer, to use for a plucker big enough for out big turkeys, but he needs a break after all this building, but the plucking fingers are bought already. It just takes time! LOLThere have been some really easy to make pluckers on the thread, and really cheap that I know George could make for you if you don't have a plucker.
Coco will produce beautiful babies, I still think GinGin is the most beautiful bunny in the world. Lela and Gin are so sweet and tame and have always been super healthy with beautiful coats. They will get play yard time today while I clean their hutch and let it dry out. I put the flaps on the hutch down for winter and fill their little wooden houses with fresh hay once a week when I clean the hutch. That's where they sleep when it's cold. I love them so much. Hello to George. PS I hope his new doctor works out well. PPS. Chicken shelter coming along. I have to finish the shingles, add some trim and paint all the trim and I'll been ready to move them in. I'll still have to use the tarps on the sides in winter and take them off in summer. I may hang them from hooks like a shower curtain.
My nephew gave me a smaller version of one like this for ducks, but it didn't do very good on ducks, but is too small for a 40# turkey, easier to pluck by hand and is the water is just right at 155 degrees, most of the feathers can almost be rubbed off. I find turkeys pluck easier than chickens, but it would be nice to have a homemade wizbangger!
