"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Does anyone's parish offer free mulch or compost?
The water place in Alex (off of lower 3rd) used to let you get mulch (and I use the word mulch loosely) once a month. We got a few loads from there about 4 years ago. I guess they just chip up branches and stuff they pick up. I found a bottle cap here or there.

I'm not sure if they still do this or not.

When she comes to see you, you guys just need to travel east a little more (Loranger/Folsom line) and come see me! If you wait until January, I'll have some foals on the ground to pet and coo over.
I will be going over Mrs Magoo's by then to trade her some Hollands for some Beltsville and getting some Narragansett eggs to hatch, so let's plan a nice toad trip, Linda?

Yeah that will certainly encourage others to own chickens..... get chickens and in a few months time you will end up with worms in your drawers!

When we bought this house Gustoff was about to hit and it took a lot of branches along with the power lines. As the road crews were coming through, cutting tree limbs and chipping them, they had to have other trucks run back and forth to dump sites. Hubby told the foreman they could just come and dump on our property, if he didn't dump any trash with it. He was happy to do so, saved him and his crew time and we got all the free mulch we could use. Cost the price of a set of blades for the riding lawn mower, but I finished chopping those pieces to smithereens, bought 2 loads of sand and picked up a few trailers of horse manure from a friends stable and in about 3 months, had a lot of compost to start a nice size garden. If you see a road crew trimming trees in your area, like they do a lot for power lines and such, let them dump it on your property. It makes fine mulch. You might contact the road department in your area, or whoever's jurisdiction, tree trimming falls under and ask them if they have anything planned in your neighborhood. We have a lot of half rotted firewood you could have from the last 2 warm winters, but it might attract termites? We have some tree limbs we haven't got around to burning and a chipper for branches up to 2 inches, if you want to make your own! What kind of mulch are you looking for? Pine? Baggas from sugar cane is good too, depending on what you are mulching. We have about 3/4 acres uncleared with some small pines and several chain saws, as long as you don't bring matches, we already have one old crazy pyro on the street and one a few blocks away, already!

Haha! That's determination!

East Baton Rouge offers it and it's coming up soon. One year I put a tarp liner in my hatch back with the back seats down and filled the whole space with a lot of mulch. Got home and the mulch was so heavy I couldn't get it out of my car. My grandson came over and pulled it out with his four wheeler. Haha. He pulled it all to the back. It was a big bunch of mulch. They will load it into a truck bed with a scooper machine, but for people like me, I had to shovel into my car with the help of some high school volunteers. Quite the experience.

Its COLD!! Brrr!!!!! Layers and layers of clothes this morning.

The US and Afghanistan are going to be voting on a draft of an agreement..........which includes keeping soldiers in Afghanistan until 2024. Somewhere between 7,000 and 15,000 soldiers. ((sigh))

Oh, I'm not looking for any mulch. Our parish gives it away free. I was just going to let everyone know that who needed mulch that they could contact their local parish office to see if they have the same program in their area.

Good morning La-yers! Kind of chilly here too but worse is coming – we’re supposed to have highs in the 50s by Sunday. Good gumbo weather! I think duck and sausage this time!

What’s everybody doing for Thanksgiving? We’re having ham and brisket. Broccoli with hollandaise sauce & crushed Ritz cracker crumbs on top, mixed green salad, rum carrots, dressing, deviled eggs, phyllo pastry w/spinach & artichokes, rolls, desserts will be pies-pecan, mince, lemon chiffon

Will someone explain to me how this is a good idea. A 13yr old boy gets suspended from school. So his mom locks him outside on this cold morning. Light jacket and shorts. Then leaves for the day. That's part of his punishment. She told him the police can't come in the backyard and NOT to go to his grandmas down the street.

And I thought it was bad this summer when this lady did stuff like this.
