I don't think I'm gonna move it around in the yard. Do guineas live in the coop with the chickens? I hate raccoons. I applaud when I see them flattened on the side of the road. Other than those and snakes I'm an animal lover

Good to know that about TSC. I noticed when we went in there the other day that they weren't very helpful.

My friend knows a man here who sells chicks but I don't know what breeds. We went to Petrus the other day and they didn't have chicks yet. Then when I asked what breeds they were getting the girl said "everything" which I found less than helpful. Sigh.

Oh! I am outside city limits and I only want hens. I'm scared I'll get a rooster. Lol.

I really wanted to order from My Pet Chicken but I only want 4 hens and she has a 15 chick minimum right now. Boo.

I am beyond excited about this new hobby! Every morning I wake up and google chickens and read more about them and caring for them. :)

They may be getting some from local people as well. Circle C Feeds gets both hatchery and local chicks every year so they don't know exactly what they are getting in until they get them. TSC does have helpful customers on holidays or Sundays when they run out of something and their normal place is closed. That's how I found out about the feed mill that I use now. This is the time of year for the 'coons to be out looking for food where their normal supply has dried up.

It is too cold right now for small orders of mail in birds. Their limits should go down when the heat comes in.

Lol @ applaud...I sing "another one bites the dust..." :lau

Omg. Did I tell y'all already? Sorry if this is a repeat, I don't think so lol
So I get a call last week for my pet lop rabbit Fluffybutt. (i know so original lol)

He is the sweetest rabbit I ever met and I've come across some sweethearts. We listed him at a ridiculous price figuring A. Nobody would buy him. I love him but he needs more love not to sit with meat rabbits wondering if he's next lol... And B. A high price paid *might* mean they'll take good care of him?

I got a call last week. From Cali. It was a movie director.

nope not kidding. They will be filming in baton rouge end if month and he is what they need they said to give to a lil boy actor as a gift in the movie...don't know what movie yet, they're secrets til filming or until I'm on a non-blab list. I will neva be on a non-blab list. Think I'm already on the "shhhh don't tell Christina yet she gets too excited over everything list"...
N e ways I sorta thought it was a joke. C'mon really? but got a call & emails today with paperwork. Seems borrowing an animal is a lot of paperwork. I suppose if it were a purebred or trained creature the movie company hurt or killed, things could go really bad...hence paperwork but its fluffybutt. He's been through cats, dogs, babies, kids, everything. Not scared of anything lol

So ya I am super excited we will be in the credits lmao

The feed store in town in Leesville carries chicks in the spring, and you can order chicks through them. Red and White I think It's called? I normally buy feed and such through them - I should knw the name by now....

Right next to a furniture store and across the street from the shopping center where Market Basket use to be... They get from Ideal. I *think* it's a 6 chick minimum - don't know about now in this weather, but you can ask. He will order whatever you want and pay when you pick them up. There are SO many fun, gorgeous, neat breeds, I'd really look them over before settling if you only want a few. By the way you should just go ahead and plan on falling victim to what we call "Chicken Math".....

Our guineas free range around the place. They will occasionally go into the coop when I lock up the chickens for the night, but they always fly directly over our 6’ fence when I let them out in the mornings & spend the day roaming around.

You might also try the La. Market Bulletin -

There is a section for poultry in there (along w/everything else you can think of and some things you never thought of).

I don’t have the breeds you’re looking for or I’d hatch some for you. I’m surprised Petrus wasn’t more accommodating; they are usually knowlegable and nice-and good prices on their feed, which is fresh since they mill it themselves. I bought 2 EE’s from them a couple of months ago when I had a single chick hatch under a broody hen, to keep her company (yes, we bought pet chicks for our pet chick)!

Isn’t that the truth? (about Chicken Math)!
I started out with “just 3 little hens”. What was I thinking?!!!
