"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

They don't like change. Mine skipped a day after I put them in the pen. The protest can't last long!

My Black Sex Link laid her egg on top of the Amercauna coop today instead of her usual nesting box. Think she was trying to show the Amercaunas what they needed to do to get their freedom back? "Look girls, pop that egg and come play. "

I hope Lemon's feeling better soon.

Aw, thanks! Just now trying to catch up on some posts. Doing better!

It almost felt like spring today! Well, after the rain passed anyway. I would love to get some seeds in the garden. But I am working on some re organization and besides.......hubby STILL hasn't gotten to put together all those nice garden frames that are made of composite. Ugh! I am getting spring fever! I might have to plant at least a little something if these temps stay around.

Really not sure what is going to happen with these eggs that are in the incubator. There are still 10 that are kicking. About 4 days ago we realized the air cells were still way too small. So I put in some pouches made of cheesecloth and filled with dry rice. I also got the temp down about 1 degree, hoping that it would slow the hatch by just a smidge, allowing the air cell (hopefully) to increase in size. They are all really nice even shells so I also took an emery board to the air cell end of each egg.........with a very light hand of course. Of course then there was torture of more waiting. Well, it did slow the hatch as we are 24hrs past 21days (if my math is correct). But all chicks are still looking active. The bator is still dry. But as soon as I see a pip I will put in moisture etc.

Next time we are for sure going to do a dry incubation to start. And monitor the air cells when we candle and than add moisture as needed. We also need to find a good hygrometer. We tried one and it was seriously a piece of garbage "Made in China". Worthless! But I read somewhere that they have them in pet stores in the lizard/amph sections. So I am going to look into that. Anyway it has been a good learning experience.

If you cam to my house at one time you would have gotten farm coffee. A pot, coffee, egg shells, pour water over it, put on stove, bring to boil, let it settle to bottom, still best to use strainer, pure in cup. Advise, not good to last drop, that is a little grainy. On the other hand my NYC nephew has a coffee maker he paid $2,9XX.XX for not including the tax. He bought it France when he was partying with jet set friends.
700

I think it was one of those things, group enthusiasm. Usually ends up in a tattoo in a strange place. In his case a coffee maker you would have to book a flight to return. :gig no idea how long he has had it, but he has explain the economy serval times comparing it to Starbucks. :lau That is like me explain how much I save on having my own chickens.
