I had a nice happy day today. My 3 daughters called to sing Happy Birthday (67). Good even though it was wretched with rain.

Omg I would LOVE EES! I asked what kind hoping for some sort of short list I could look up lol no. But did know that many EEs are chipmunk looking (so 4 came with me lol) the other two are probably production reds I don't think is get a pure RIR from them, could be wrong...those were the two look alike chicks I found so far lol the striped ones elude my search, many options. Wish I knew what hatchery :th
I wonder how long til I know lol phoenix chicks were the "special" chicks and looked similar but a lil different and they only came straight run (unless the pullet bin was wrong doh! I better not have 6 lil roosters :gig I went through 12 roos to get ONE wheatan ameraucana.
   :th   :he     ....................................................................................... Wow. Just...... :duc

Very cute! They look like EE chicks to me. I really like that light colored one with the striped back.

We have been planning on getting a heavy bodied rooster to breed with these pullets we got. We want to grow out our own meaties from our own chickens........even if it is a few weeks longer than a Cornish X. We want to get one that has had his crow quieted though (I know some people strongly disagree with doing that, but at least that will be one more rooster that will be able to live a nice life instead of just be for the freezer). We had been looking at getting one from this vet http://quietroosters.wordpress.com/ he is a member of this forum and has had success with the surgery. I did some checking around with vets here recently........apparently none of them have an adventurous bone in their body. None of them were the least interested in even attempting or hearing about quieting a crow. Comfortable I guess and not interested in continued learning. But I was telling my friend about our plan and she said she knew a vet near her that she really likes. She took it upon herself to talk to this vet about what I was interested in. My friend called this afternoon and said the vet would absolutely give it a try!!! I think this is great because then maybe we can save a roo that would be put down instead. I know we COULD ship a roo to that vet that is out of state, but I don't want to stress a roo like that and then have to go through a procedure and then be shipped back as well. Anyway, I am excited and maybe this will help this vet to learn something new and possibly save other roos in the future from having to be put down because of noise nuisance rules in some locations. I have high hopes!

Glad you found a vet that is willing to try! I wouldn't do it now because I live in the country but if I lived where they restricted roosters you better bet I would do it in a heartbeat!

Yea!!! EE's!!!

Awww. Nothing cuter than a baby chick. Your children are in love I'm sure!

Glad you got two RIR's. From experience I can tell you one RIR is neurotic and doesn't get along with the others. Whenever I hear a big fuss, sure enough it has to do with Primrose. She tried to get in the coop tonight with the others. That is not good. Big fuss. She hadn't been sleeping in the dog kennel. She is sleeping in the Amercauna coop and the Amercaunas are sleeping with the Black Star. They seem happy. They find their way.
