"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Wouldnt even know where rice bran would be. Ya'll gotta remember I have over 50 to feed... so i dont know. It is all really confusing... trying the FF right now but seems I may have started a little wrong, so some repairing will have to happen. THEN, if I am successful with that, another project will come...
Starting on a few new quilt pattern ideas, then DH fathers garden will begin soon... HE has the BEST dirt ever. Best tomatoes I have ever eaten, never liked them raw before his! Then the purple hull peas, there's just so that grows there! One day tho, ima convince him to lend me a spot of earth to plant what i want. Greens for starters.....

The important thing to remember is the fermentation going on. You don't need anything but feed and water. 5 gal bucket 1/2 full of mixed scratch, or grains and add water to cover. Later add more as it expands. Cover with a towel . Let sit 3 days, stirring daily. It will start bubbling and it's ready to feed. The yeasts come out of the air. It will be ok to feed 4-6 c daily for your 50 since they are free ranging. Or less. Just some each day. Will be thick.

I had a neighbor who made a small garden plot using cinder blocks. She planted herbs in the holes and tomatoes and peppers in the plot. She moved at the beginning of fall. I cleaned out the bed and planted mustard and collards for my iguana. The pallet garden reminded me of what she did with the cinder blocks. Ok now, back to lurking. :)

food for thought: there is a deadly intestinal bug. it is becoming resistant to our antibiotic. We have a good bug naturally in a healthy gut, that has and still dose, kills the bad bug. In Canada a company makes human poo to grow the good bug. In experiments, putting the home grown good bug (poo) in people's colen that have unchecked bad bug, will kill the bad bug 100% of the time! plus side effect of leaving a healthier colen. BUT! We can not use it in the USA because it can not be approved. You can not put poo into the colen of a sick or healthy person. (Of course this is overly simplified)

Consuming raw organic honey on a daily basis will do the same thing. Dose is 2TBS a day under 145lbs and 3TBS a day over 145lbs.
:celebrate :bow Take care of the good bugs! Thanks.

Pics of my tomato's, this year I planted only 4 bushes. The rest are self planting. I didn't get out to trim the suckers so it turned wild on me. The bird netting made it more difficult. I will be, this year fencing t he garden in. Using the netting only when I am cleaning out a bed with my girls. Right now my girls hang out in the tomato's. In about a week I hope to have the fence up, they will not be happy. I have 20' of that bed that is not planted.

Just read this article where this lady makes her fermented feed... LEAVES IT LIDLESS.... outside. Allows flies to gather on it. Says they lay eggs on hers which adds to the stuff to eat.... larvae....
Anyone ever try this?

I wouldn't try it not that it's a bad idea but around here their are to many other critters it would attract like possum, coon, and rats, etc.
I don't let mine get stinky. I do enough at a time to last a week. I let it get to smell like fresh bread dough.
