"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

You definitely had some weird vibes going on at Fertile Acres last night --- and it wasn't even a full moon! Hope it's better tonight!

I heard that daylight saving is worse than a full moon. Since you work, Kuntrygirl, your schedule changed. I have been terribly effected by the change and I'm not even working any more. It's awful. Just leave it at DLS time and quit the changes. I know we already discussed this, but can't help myself.

Primrose has been getting in the coop with the others lately and it looks peaceful when I go out to lock up. But that makes 5 in a coop that maxes at 4 so one ends up on the floor which put them in perfect position to be pecked on a lot. I've been moving her to the other coop, alone, but I feel bad bec she clearly wants to be with
The others. I may try moving her with the Amercaunas together bec the Amercaunas are lots more docile than the Black Stars. So sweet that my Prim wants to be part of a flock.

Just introducing myself. I'm in Alexandria. After recently escaping the private hell that is called a "subdivision", I am now getting my grand chicken plans in order. 5 maran chicks and 2 red sex links so far.

To explain the screen name, it's what my then 7 year old niece decided to name my dads rooster. "Because, you know, he pecks with his head." She had no idea. Lol

Welcome to the sticks and BYC. Great choice of birds and name. I'm from Jena myself

Gonna play catch up real quick:
LOVE THE FERTILE ACRES STORY... Name kinda fits now don't it! Sounded like I was watching a Chevy Chase movie, farm vacation or something...LOL
HELLO PECKER HEAD! Wow, felt dirty a lil... But glad to have ya! Keep us updated.
CHINA? As if they have no illnesses or cancer??
WASH A KIDS HANDS? And eggs from the store only..... Too dumb to even comment on. Just a person who takes one side and lives with it... Me? I research all I can THEN decide. But that's me...

Saw Cornish cross at TS today but didn't have my wallet... Know how hard it was to leave? Doug better get me some this weekend! Ima have ta pitch a good ol fit!!!

There were assorted bantams at TSC this time! Time to play guess that bantam! 1. Golden Sebright I'm pretty sure. 2. This with in with white leghorn chicks but it is not a leghorn, that's for sure. 3. I have no idea. Reddish brown with dark back stripes - clean legged. 4. I'm not sure, brahma maybe? Yellow, feather legged, yellow skin, four toes. 5. This is a real cutey and I have no idea what it is. Cute stripe, clean legged. 6. A cute chick with a dark brown back, feather legged - four toes. So, any educated guesses guys?
Sebright on #1 for sure. I have those. Looks the same. I have read somewhere that furry feet were sometimes simply a Booted Bantam. We had some of those too. I had a Dutch as well. Simple colors are sometimes hard to tell, so keep us up to date as they grow!!

Such a hard evening for me. Went shopping with an old friend who moved back n a neighboring town. Came back, one chick rushed his hatch and was dragging his sack plus some innards were in it. Taped his feet, wrapped him n wet toilet paper, now I'm up late hoping he stays still and lives. Then I noticed one who should have hatched 3 days ago hasn't. :( which I usually try to see why. Ok, sorry for those with sensitive tummies but I am not sure where I went wrong on this one, thinking it's just a fluke thing.... But explain this:

Opened the egg, found the head, yellowish ooze came out, and just lifted it out. Laid it in toilet paper.... FREAKED... And took a picture. No exterior skin or feathers from like the neck to the butt....anybody??

I'm not to sure in the first one, but in the picture I've had happen before. The chick was born with a birth defect and never matured fully. Probably passed away before it could then say in the acidic membrane of the egg and dissolved. Sorry for your loss. :/

Thanks for the warm welcome! Figured the name might get kicked back, but it was worth a try! Just got done modifying my brooder. It was a little small so me and my three year old added a "porch". They seem to like it. The 3 year old love his "baby chickens" too.

We had a motherclukin they made her change it. She;s a rebel with a cause. Lol!! you might slide under the radar. Everyone on this thread will think its hilarioos!! Party on peckerhead .Pam
