Morning folks,  how's everybody.  Me and mine are fine.  hehe    I have the quietest babies ever.  I've checked them 4 times today and they love the fermented feed.  Very content. 

Downs Syndrome:  When my grandbaby Nikki was 8 or so (4 yrs ago)  she had a terrible case of pneumonia.  Was in intensive care 5 weeks because they had to keep her knocked out the whole time.  One on the nurses inserted a feeding tube down her throat and pierced the lung two places.  Didn't notice for a few hours what had happened.  Her Mom called me from Austin saying to come, she was dying..   I took my funeral clothes literally.   While I was on the way her heart stopped twice.  Got it going again.   They finally woke her up after a month and was she ******.   You know, when you get so mad at someone you just want to punch or kick them.   She had no boundaries.   The first time it happened, she pulled her leg back and drop kicked a nurse in the jaw.  Knocked her down.       Nobody but mama was safe from those thighs    It took her months and months to be able to get around without heavy breathing.  At her worst the Dr said her lungs were shredded.    Her mom dropped out of nursing school that semester but  has finally finished her degree.  Her bill was a cool half million.  Which is over 2 million over her lifetime.  One of the only benefits I can tell of Obamacare is that they can't cancel your insurance with a cut off of 2 mil.
Nikki is 12 now and has topped off at 4'7".     Loves to use her IPad to watch cartoons.  She's a pistol.

God bless her. I'm glad she's doing well now. Pistol's good!! Keeps people on their toes.

It's been sad reading about so many losses from Tractor. So wierd. That is hard.
Linda, I cheer your granddaughter's recovery. I love the word "pistol" when talking about kids.
Miztre, I will pray for your coworker. I have heard about the mouth/teeth connection to the heart. I also work hard to keep up my teeth. That's why they won't clean your teeth and work on them at the same time.
A couple of you said it would go fast with my friend and it has shocked me how true it was. Yesterday I couldn't go in the morning to his house, it is 45 minutes away and I also have my elderly mom in my house. Anyway, when I headed his way at 6:00 I found out he couldn't get out of his bed all day and had no food or water!!! I went to the grocery Znd got a case of bottled water and food. I loosened the top of each bottles and put by his bed and heated food and brought it to him. I also put a box of fruit cups, fiber bars and boost next to his bed. Today he was having trouble breathing so I am going to see about setting up
Oxygen. I wish I could be there more.

I am so sorry to hear that your friend has gotten weaker. I am so sad. You are truly a dear friend. Do not feel bad about anything. You are doing everything for him right now and he appreciates that. You are a true blessing from God. Your friend knows that you love him and are doing everything that you can. My heart is sad hearing about your friend but an angel will soon be resting with no pain. Stay strong for him and keep on doing what you can.

Anyone know what the laws are in Livingston parish for addressing dogs that attack your chickens? Someone in my area has 2 hunting dogs that run loose and try to get into my coop daily. It's to the point now that they are weakening the structure and causing damage, and may soon find a way in. I'm so upset. We warned them to keep their dogs off our property and they said if I do anything to them I will be arrested. I just don't understand how they can do the harm they are doing and protecting my property is a crime. I can't find anything online. Does anyone know?

I have been watching these posts about people loosing their babies from TSC. What hatchery do they buy from in this state? I am really sorry for you having to go through this! Are you going to have a necropsy done! If so, where?

I had considered buying some from there a couple of weeks ago and now I am SO, SO glad that I didn't!

I was in the Leesville TSC today and I just so happen to catch the guy placing new chicks in the tubs from out of their shipping containers. I asked him who they got theirs from and he said Privett Hatchery in NM. I told him I was familiar with the hatchery and had had some Delawares form there before that were good ones along with some RSL and Pro reds too. He said that these were doing good but did mention there was a problem previously with the bantams and they didn't have a clue as to what or why that had happened. If i(me) were betting though it probly happened during the shipping as in got too cold with all this crazyaz weather weve had lately I told him bantams were better off reared by a broody and he agreed with me.

I think everywhere has a leash law. You should all your animal controll or police to find out. If you have a pound I would detaine the dogs on my property and call the pound. After the owner has to pay the fines to get their dog released. They will get a fence or leave them at the pound. In st. Tammany it's 70 bucks to get your dog back plus proof of shots etc.

You are doing more then most and are giving him strength when he needs it the most. You are truly a good friend!

I don't know about Livingston Parish but an incident took place in this area recently.

Chihuahua killed after being caught in chicken coop

Rapides Parish deputies are speaking out following an animal cruelty investigation after being inundated with requests through social media sites.

Deputies say around 8:00 am, they were contacted at their Tioga sub-station about an animal cruelty complaint in the 5000 block of Oaklane Road in Tioga.

Deputies say the complainant let his Chihuahua out around 7:00 a.m. to use the bathroom, and about a half-hour later, he heard several gun shots coming from his neighbor's home. He said he found his Chihuahua dead on the property, so he filed a formal complaint with deputies.

Deputies say the neighbor told them there was an ongoing problem with unwanted dogs on his property. He advised last week, the Chihuahua and a large breed black dog broke into his coop and killed four chickens. This morning, the neighbor said when he awoke to a loud noise coming from the chicken coop, he discovered the Chihuahua had already killed two more chickens. The neighbor allegedly told deputies he shot the dog so more of his chickens would survive.

Deputies advise that Louisiana law gave the neighbor the right to prevent the dog from killing any more chickens, and the dog-owner was responsible for his dog going onto someone else's property. Furthermore, the dog-owner could be held liable.

"We have been bombarded by calls and comments through social media about this incident. While this is an unfortunate incident, as responsible pet owners, you have to make sure your dogs are on a leash and under your control when they are off of your property. If you have an animal complaint, call us and we will investigate it and put traps out if need be." said Lt Tommy Carnline, RPSO Public Information Officer. "Again, this an unfortunate incident that we can all learn from".

Neither party were cited in this incident.

In 2013, the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office responded to 2307 animal complaints.
