An eventful 24 hrs here. That storm was so scary! I seriously had us all in the bathroom at one point because it sounded like a tornado outside. But that loudest part of the storm passed quickly. Of course we lost power instantly and it just finally came back on. Coincidentally we had planned on working on the chicken house today. But having no power puts a damper on that. So hubby had to go to his dads, get his dads truck a new battery so he could load the generator and bring it here. But then it needed a new part. He needed to use the chainsaw to trim some things, but the fuel line was cracked and needed replaced. Even though he ended up having to fix a bunch of things he did get a lot done. You would think that a project like this would be so simple. The steps are so simple, we know what we are doing and what order the steps are going in. But our schedule has been SO crazy that it seems like we are moving in molasses. It takes us getting 15 other tasks done before we can get the next step done on the house.
1. Clear brush on the fence line.
2. Cut low branches off the tree.
3. Move all branches into a huge pile, (that I have no idea what we will do with........I guess have a bon fire)
4. Move pots and desk chair from around metal Arbor/Arch thingy
5. Unwind Kiwi vine from metal Arbor/Arch thingy
6. Separate and move metal Arbor/Arch thingy
7. Cut down Plum tree and remove roots
8. Dig up Blackberries
9. Separate and replant Blackberries where Plum tree was
10. Remove support boards that were holding posts during concrete cure
.........................ok, so that was only 10 steps. But now tomorrow maybe we will get the rafters up. And that is what he did, with a bit of help from me and the kids. I cleaned up the potted citrus trees and some other potted plants with trimming, fertilizing, repotting etc. Lord knows I am beat and very happy to have lights back on!
We also had some really great visit time with all the chooks today. My girls have noticed how different these Chicken Nuggets behave compared to the Cornish X group that we had last spring. Raising them right along side the regular chickens has made a big difference in their behavior. Both the girls got to give them tummy rubs
I am SO, SO, SO glad to find out the our Pink Jasmine has made it though all the winter cold weather. I had it in the green house, but it had all gone brown and died back. But there is part of it still alive and its sprouting back! Woohoo!!! Love it!
