Oh yes! Sanding, painting. Either a muted red or blue for the base color. Then antique write over top and then distressed and sealed. I'm going for a patriotic shabby chic.

Love the door. I would put different glas in it. With art glass. If you have some where that does stained glass they might have scraps that might fit. Here's a pic of a light fixture with that type of glass.

Today our little white cat Lacie is 13 yrs old - we'll have shrimp for supper tonight so she can have a special birthday treat.

I am sad to report that the twins, Malcolm & Winnie - our black retired show dog Cockers both had surgery last week to remove lumps & bumps - they will be 10 in May & are starting to get the "old dog" problems.
Malcolm's warts were benign but our precious little Winnie's tumour was soft tissue sarcoma, level II. She also has another lump which has come up not far from the one that was removed, but I think that one may be a simple lipoma as it is not 'hard' to the touch like the cancerous tumour was. Unfortunately, I've had a lot of experience w/malignant tumours in dogs. I take them this evening to get their stitches out & discuss options for removal of the 2nd tumour in Winnie. I am just heartbroken about this. On a "trying to be positive" note, surgical removal of soft tissue sarcomas is the preferred treatment & does tend to extend the life of the dog on the average almost 4 more years. So we can hope. And pray.

I am so glad I cut back on my flock & rehomed the peas - it was the right decision for me to make. My remaining hens are laying up a storm & so plenty of eggs to share w/family and friends and donate to Manna House. 

Put up a batch of strawberry jam w/organic strawberries from Inglewood last night -- it is sooo good! Might have to put up one more batch tomorrow.....they are having Spring Fling & will have an open pig roast, many vendors and hopefully more strawberries!

Terri, I'm so sad for your dog. I love my pups and can't imagine going through that. My prayers go with you.
 
I had to butcher one of my chicken Nuggets today. I have never done it completely by myself. But this poor Nugget had gotten a gash on its backside behind its hip. It was long and the skin was really pulled apart. It just didn't seem right to leave it like that

Poor Nugget! I was nervous, because I didn't want to do it wrong. But I did it! And it all went so smooth and the Nugget was very peaceful actually. I think I will try to do the rest of them in the same way so they go off to freezerland in that same peaceful way.

It actually had a smaller cut on the other side, same place. None of the others have that. The only thing I can think of is that it must be trying to snuggle up under one of the others at night and it getting a sharp toenail raked down its side. They have plenty of room, but they still snuggle up close together.

Maybe a bird of prey tried to get a meal but couldn't pick up the weight of your nugget. Congrats on the processing I don't think I could do it unless I was starving .:thumbsup good job.
