Thank you to all of you for prayers for my friend. Pam, you were right, the hospice nurse gives him 48 hours. I made a schedule yesterday to cover him all day and night so I could stay home. I'm going back today. He will be covered. The hospice nurse works nights at the nursing home and checks in on him and texts us.

Sorry I was the bearer of bad news but I wanted you to be prepared. Everyone grieves differently if you need a shoulder I'm here day or night. If you withdraw into yourself that is fine too! Do what's best for you. Pam

You might be able to get money for nutria or boar. They are pests here and sometimes there are bounties for them. I have a friend that grew up eating them. He said wild boar are nasty and once you cook one the odor never leaves the pot.

I know a hunter that made his living hunting boar. He did not use high power rifles. He used a combination of up close and personal with slugs and traps. No oneness wants one of those boars with horns shot by a missed shot. Once along a time ago my late husband and I had the skill. But! :rolleyes: A thought. It would be interesting to find out if I still have it, and if I remember what I was taught.

Boar is really pretty good.. Depending. What goes in to it, how old, and how clean the shot. The last boar I had was one that was brined for some time before cooking long and slow in a pit with garlic, herbs, onions, potatoes and the like. We started the pit about noon, we had gone to bed when my girlfriends father and uncle prepped, warped and buried it in the hot sandy pit. It cooked a good 18 hours I guess. It was a hug party and not much left of that boar, it was delicious.

I have had tuff nasty boar, so your friend is also right. Probably where he grew up the boar had nasty food so they were just nasty and nothing could be done to improve it. I'm sure if your friend grew up on it his family did everything they could to make it so it could be eaten, if not enjoyed.


My late husband wanted me to know how to drive a truck, because he said it is one of the few jobs we on get paid the same as men and he knows I will be alright. After he died I just could not drive, it was to lonely. But I duped go back to it. One of the things he taught me was to lesson to your gut. Trust in yourself, never be afraid to run for protection and avoid trouble.

Down here sometimes they catch the Boar well I guess trap it. They fatten them up I 've always wanted to get someone to do it and feed them sage And other herbs. See if u could really preseason the meat. I had cheese once that came from cows that ate fennel it was reaally good,

It is the Sow you want if you are trying to cull wild boar. They are smaller, but still to much of a handful for me alone. If I want to do it and if it is right, my faith will lead me to others and it will happen. You can influence the meat by the food. I was asked if I like gator, I was surprised because it was very fishy tasting. It was wild gator, I had had farmed gator raised on chicken. Crawfish taste different from different waters. I have had muddy tasting catfish. Dear that lives on pine and bitter brush is so gamy it venison a bad name. It really makes a difference fattening up a sow on corn, kitchen leftovers, mash, potatoes, beer. I was told, do not know for sure, that feeding pig beer and the mash softens the taste of the meat and makes it more tender. Would love to find out if true. How long do you think you would have to feed a wild sow up?

I don't know I'll ask my friends that hunt how long. I bet beer would help. In japan the Kobe cattle Are massaged, listen to classical music and feed beer. I've never had it but it's the most expensive meat you can buy. Sopposed to be delishious. I do no when hunting or traping them don't go alone. Take care. Pam

My friend passed at 9:15 this morning. Thank you for your love and prayers.
I know you will miss him and find yourself with to much time on your hands but I hope his death was good for him, and the way you spoke of your friend he had a peaceful end and left behind good friends who will continue good works not just in memory of him but because of the goodness his prescence here on earth caused to ripple forward. God Bless you and you both continue on in my prayers!
