One of my little chicks is a definite roo. At 3 days old, he is crowing!!! If I catch him again, I'll video and post it. I have never heard of them crowing that young. Have any of y'all?

Put the Chick down and back away slowly, you have entered the twilight zone, be very careful, you have bird flu or something,lol, just joking, but it is almost too much to belive but stranger things have happened, I am an optomist so I definately want to hear this for myself, I believe you 100 %. I have witnessed a few things that some would define as @#$%^&*()_ but i know what i see and hear, I figure that you do too,lol

Good morning. Someone wanted pics so here they are.

I think this is 5 sets of babies. I lost count. 13 mamas are setting on eggs. At least 12 - 19 eggs per clutch.

I sold about 20 this weekend. Have about 100 more to go.

YES! My husband thought it crowed, and I assured him it was probably a chick that got pecked or something. Then I watched, and he did the whole posture and movement of a crow. I was shocked! We have a batch of 12 week old bantams that crowed at 3 weeks, and I thought that was really early, but 3 days!!!!! It's a sex-link I guess

My humble set up-repurposed dog yard and kennel. Have 7 chicks (3RIR, 4 silver Wyandotte) and 5 turkey poults in the repurposed rabbit hutch in front and rotate which group gets to hang out in the yard. I also have 4 cages of Champagne d' argent rabbits hanging on the back side of the coop. Planning to modify my kids play set house into another coop, which will share the same fenced yard. We have two reining bred quarter horse mares and currently 4 of their offspring, ranging from this years foals to a 3 and 4 year old ready for the show pen. I originally started with a few donated hens, then split an order of sex linked . I do not care much for the sex linked hens and thus the new chicks. They were bought at the local feedstore, as a "trial" for those breeds. I am surprised how much I enjoy my chickens! Ultimately I would like to continue a supply of eggs and supplement my freezer with chicken hatched out here. We are still working on the second one! So, blah, blah, blah wow I talk too much!!

I love your set up. Perfect for deep south. I don't have a run yet and my 14 girls are raring to get out. I have a dog kennel with tin roof 7.5' x 12'. Plenty big enough but you know, they want OUT. I have 6 Golden Comets (sex link) and they are 8.5 wks old. Will start laying in 8 wks or so. The only trouble is they will lay almost daily but after about a yr of laying, they are tapped out with prolapse or something. A lot of deaths. Your RIR's on the other hand will lay almost as much and will continue for several years steady. I also have one little gimpy male that's probably going to be gone soon. Along with 4 White Rocks and 3 Delawares. They are hatchery so very skittish. None of this coming to me to be petted. They run like I'm trying to kill them.

I might keep 2 or 3 of these and sell the rest at POL I'm wanting to upgrade to Basques because they are so good in the heat and are the friendliest birds ever. Great for kids. They are like buff colored delawares. Fast growing and great hatching.rate even on shipped eggs. I'm buying a dozen eggs but I'm new so maybe none of them will hatch. We'll see.
