"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Does anyone have any suggestions...(on this topic...lol..)  I want to take my boys and hopefully my husband to the beach for 2 or 3 days.  I'm open to suggestions.  Maybe Perdido Beach, etc.  Nothing further than a  few hours away.  Also, WHERE to stay?  We would want to stay on the beach and the place have a pool.

Perdido is nice,so is orange beach and gulf shores. As for beach side hotel or condo? Perdido Beach resort is really nice.If you book there make reservations for breakfast their its booked fast and really good. If they still have mango's at the yatch club you will have a great Dinner.

Thanks for the info!!! My SIL mentioned the Perdido Beach resort also. I'll have to see what I come up with. It would be a last minute trip, depending on my husband's schedule, you know how construction is. My boys have never been to the beach...

I grew up going to Galveston all the time. I've failed as a parent! However, they've been on some really neat road trips. I hope that redeems me a little.

I have to think about that one. 3 to 4 hours from clear water how old are they? I wouldn't say failed but you get a demeret. LOL! I know all about planing last min. trips. Ron has built several hotels their. If iland view is still their its nice a few times last min. I talked myself into free upgrade. not as many ammenites as perdido. We built a hampton inn their. Sometimes condo's are the same price as hotels. you can save by eating brekfast and lunch at the condo.

I DID take them on a 5000 mile 2 week trip up to Yellowstone (through Colorado) and back (through Kansas). On a more serious note, skin cancer runs in our family. My oldest a couple of years ago had to have a spot removed that wasn't pre-cancerous yet, but the doctor wanted to go back a remove a larger area. He was 10. We don't go outside, EVER, without a hat and sunscreen. However, they need to go to the beach. Now, I just have to get my husband to come. lol... We are WHITE people, REALLY white!

We will glow with our "farmers tan" when we go.

I glow too. Don't get your fluffy butt in a wad. I was joking. You can get skin cancer in Yellowstone too! When people ask my beauty secret. I tell them sunscreen . If you have light eyes (i do) you are more prone to skin cancer. When we go to the beach at perdido beach resort. They have a indoor pool then hit the beach at sundown looking for shells etc. watch those rip tide flags.

Looking for shells is one of my favorite things to do. When my parents lived in Corpus Christi, I loved going to the beach and looking for sand dollars. I'm glad you mentioned the same place as my SIL. I don't always see the "charm" of the places she choses. However, if you liked it too, I feel MUCH better about it. SIL doesn't have chickens, so that makes her judgement suspect!

If you have chickens, you are a good judge! Like my reasoning?

It's the best hotel their unless they built something I don't know about. The pool is indoor/outdoor. They have a lot for kids to do if you cross the bridge your in fla. I love looking for beach treasure too. Sanabelle island is the best for shells. North Carolina for sand dollars. You will find nice shells in perdido beach just get out their early. In the broke years of our marriage we stayed in cheep hotels glad those days are over. Now my criteria is location, amenites, and comfortable bed.The gardens their are gorges . I hope your not trying for 4th of July that might be hard it's a big resort tho.

Your reasoning was spot on!! Lol. One year I decided to take my grandson closer and went to the Mississippi coast. Don't do it. It's worth the extra couple of hours to go past Mobile. I used Kaiser many times. They manage units all over the area of Gulf Shores (Amanda used to call it Gulf Shorts) Perdido, and Orange. You can go on their website and filter by location, bedrooms and prices. I liked hVing a kitchen so we didn't have to eat every meal out. Always got one on the beach, with the pool NOT on the beach side so we could swim in the afternoon and the building totally blocked the afternoon sun. It also had picnic areas on the first floor under the building with BBQ pits which was so nice in the afternoon also blocked from the sun. Also under ther building were swings so you could swing right there and watch the ocean, blocked from the sun. At night we would go sand crabbing on the beach. The kids have a blast, some of the biggest memories. Be sure to bring a flashlight for everyone and nets and buckets bec that's what everyone does at night. You'll see them all up and down the beach. Everyone shares stories and peeks of their crabs in their buckets. We never got sunburned staying at that place.
