Alright, anyone know what I can do with this? It's a "wild" climbing rose that was here when we moved in. It's on the side of the house that we never use/see, so I don't often think about it. I was considering cutting/tying it back and trying to move it. That's a 6 ft. fence picket.

Also, apparently (allegedly) the blackberry bushes are right in the path of the bulldozer and there's nothing to be done but doze them. Should I try to dig them up and move them? Or just hope they come back later?

What color are the blooms? I've seen "yellow lady banks" roses that grow like that if they are untrained/untrimmed.


Those berry roots are really hardy. It couldn't hurt to give moving some a try. I have some in my yard that have kept getting bigger every year in spite of us cutting, pulling, hacking at them.

Those berry roots are really hardy.  It couldn't hurt to give moving some a try.  I have some in my yard that have kept getting bigger every year in spite of us cutting, pulling, hacking at them. 

The blooms are pale yellow and tiny, if memory serves. It already has new growth. I'm really thinking about cutting it back by at least a third so and ... then doing something with it.

The weather was so nice today! I enjoyed getting a few things done today.

Yep, that sounds like lady banks. If you Google images it will give you ideas.

The blackberries will come back and everywhere the root is chopped and spread you will have more bushes. Pam
It's the time of year to cut roses back so trim away. Then move if you want.

Hello all ! ! ! Sorry to interrupt, just wanted to wave a hand from the big city of Vinton. I also wanted to see if anyone has ordered a Cackle Surprise. I ordered mine, and is set for delivery on the 23rd. I just wanted to obtain the greatest variety possible, but my only concern would be quality of the breeds. Any opinions or suggestions?

Always fun to get a surprise! I'm sure they will all be super cute! Add to buying hatchery verses breeder typically you will get a much higher quality bird buying from a breeder as they typically search to improve their flock toward the SOP and hatcheries sell as many of the breed as possible not looking to improve their current stock. So unless you buy show a show quality from a hatchery which is still iffy your just not getting the same quality. Just walk around the next poultry show in your area you will see a huge difference in size and look than what the end result will be from a hatchery. But they will still be pretty and still lay yummy eggs! It all goes back to what you want and what you are looking for in your flock.

It was a little funny that the NPIP vet had none of my breeds on his sheet. So we listed my egg layers. Pam

I had the same issue, he did have Marans though!

Well, being relatively new to chickens, but completely obsessed, I do want to begin breeding to SOP. I figure the Surprise Box would be a load of fun. But I really, really, REALLY want to begin raising and breeding show quality OEG and OEGB.

Does anyone live close to the Sulphur area? I would like to begin visiting poultry shows or auctions, and even the local poultry swaps, but don't have a clue where to start.
