"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

80 today, 24 tomorrow & sleet. Crazy weather!
I sweated all day Tuesday working in a t shirt, offshore now wishing I was still home, the RIR roo fit right in with my 2 month old birds. the have free range in a large pen and house, I got my DOMs separated last night before I left out for work, sold 2 other roos on the way down.

Good morning La-yers! nice chicks Pam & keeping your Dad on our prayer list.
Also nice chicks TD! it was so nice to meet you & the Missus Sat. Sorry I had to run off to work. We have to get together again!
Lemon your soaps are already working their magic - Mom's rash is MUCH improved!

If anybody knows anybody with some female guineas for sale or trade for males, I'm looking - I have 4 males & only 1 female - if I don't find mates for the rest soon, some of them will have to go. They are already fighting among themselves.

Have a good one - phones are ringing off the hook here at work!
Yes Terri, we enjoyed the visit as well, wish it could have been longer but we understand how work goes, looking forward to another visit.

I took this pic to advertise some of my "eating" eggs. And no one spoke up for them! They just don't understand...
Those are nice eggs, and arranged like we arrange ours, there's nothing like a plate full of fresh yard eggs to get you going. And they dropped my bad cholesterol and raised the good, the best results in the 6 years I have been monitoring it.

Crazy weather is right! It's making my chickens crazy, too. First, the small egg from this morning. I thought it was a new layer, but now I'm thinking maybe it was a wind egg from my FBMC.

Then my SS decided she needed extra seclusion, and a place that had never been laid in before for her momentous first egg.

One of the SS matrons encouraged her right along. So after a few hours the egg is announced and it's crazy too.

For comparison, that's a regular SS egg, the crazy pullet egg, and the crazy tiny egg.

All in all I got 9 eggs from 13 girls, and four of those were SS. I was going to try to sell a dozen tomorrow. If the temp drops they won't lay, but it's not looking as cold here as other places. :fl

I can't wait to have birds that are old enough to lay. It will add interesting dynamics to the coop.

we got a 79 percent hatch rate...so not to bad...22 out of 28...im going to leave the last six in for another day....then i will take them apart...

Day 14, so I candled again. Two more blood rings, SS and FBMC eggs. I was so optimistic!! But now I'm getting nervous. I only set 18 eggs and I've lost three so far. I have ten SS, four FBMC, and one suspected australorp mixed egg left.

I know I don't have a ton of experience, but the eggs just didn't FEEL warm enough. I guess I'll find out next week.

Those aren't bad numbers Camping. I've got eggs on day 14 also
