"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Oh boy! I have lots of catch up reading to do! Hi everyone! I have had family in non stop for a month and adding health problems and kids and chicks life has been chaotic to say the least! But i thought i would check in and say a quick hello!
I am having surgery next week, finally, so life should be calming down quite a bit.
Love my chickens!
Our next project will be starting to make breeding pens for my Isbars, Crested Cream Legbars, White Bresse and Marraduna Basque.

Good to see what you all have been up to!
Tell me about your Basque. I bought some from a lady in Central Tx but they (the two that hatched) don't resemble a Marraduna at all. Disappointed to say the least. Good luck on the surgery and hope it goes as well as mine went. It's never easy but can be done. Take care of yourself and keep in touch.

Hello Linda,
First things first. Is your post surgical recovery going well so far? I found it hard to believe what you were put through in light of my experience. Maybe you should have had my surgeon. Not trying to rub it in, just suggesting that you being so kind and friendly, that you deserved much much better!
In your last missive to me about your having shivers up your spine, was that because I reported sitting on the ground in a chicken pen? I recall once sitting on the ground in a rhinoceros corral so as to be at eye level with a newborn I was examining and petting. Mom was not too keen on the experience so had to keep a wary eye on her! Now that's what I call producing shivers of the spine!!! They are primitive looking critters having been around almost 50 million years first showing up in the geologic record in the early Eocene Period. There were once a wide number of them and alas only 5 species now prevail over the face of Africa and Asia. And they will soon disappear unless the brainless poachers don't quit killing them for their horns. Among the primitive thinkers (?) that ground horn provides enhanced sexual prowess to the aged men and women. What a crime to lose 5 species of noble mammals for the sake of superstitious ignorance!
My best to you,
Neal

Great, appreciate it. Can't wait for your eggs. Looking good, lady. You are really doing well on this business. I'm on day 13 or so. I talked with Jipus5 Jennifer today. She was babysitting my Sebrights and a mix of my good White Rock and Supper blue egg layer. They are 2 months along and the mutt is a pullet and owns the joint she thinks. Yea!!! I have 5 in the 'bator now. She's keeping these as I don't have a place for them and will increase her stock some. Wonderful lady.

I am doing well but putting the money back in up untill now. THe eggs I sell for eating covers all my feed. Now I'll see more profit I have more breeds then I need. Lol!! But I've started selling some so far all local even tho I'm prepared to ship. Normally I post an add on local face book poultry sites they sell quick. I've bought the best stock I could afford and people seem to respond to them. I'm almost finished the runs for my fourplex breeding coops. I didn't buy at the price people think so I'm ahead of the game. I plan on processing a Bresse in a few months so I can tell people how they taste. If it's really that much better I may end up keeping them for my own table. The hatching eggs are selling well too. I wasn't planing on getting Lavender Wyandottes but the price was so low I put a bid in thinking I never get then at this price. Low and behold I checked my email at noon the next day and I won couldn't believe that one. But y'all know how I feel about them when I see them. Why nots!! LMAO!!! glad your getting better. I almost sent you eggs but then I thought what would happen if I did and you were mid Hatch? So then i figured I should wait till your ready. Pam

I finally got my hands on one of TD's awesome brooders! :celebrate
AND got the babies out of the house. Yesterday was just the best. :D

There's ten babies in each section, with plenty of room for more. The polish babies are too big for a brooder, but their tractor isn't finished yet. Soon I hope!

Great presentation Camping, I am so glad you are happy with it, it was nice to finally meat you and your husband, even though there wasn't much time to visit, I can see the birds like their new accommodations and I bet you all are glad to have them out of the house, I will be building more of this design for sale to the public on a limited basis as it takes several hours to build and I have so many other things that come first.

Hi Linda, my eggs came from walnut farms and although dealing with the seller wasn't the greatest i ended up with 4 that i think ate pretty decent. I'll take pictures for you, i have both colors and i think i have a quad. :)
