Anyone use the horizontal water nipples? I'm thinking up feed/water systems for my brooder. The month old chicks are making huge messes with the jar feeders. I love jar feeders, but I'm filling/cleaning them several times a day. Ain't nobody got time for that.
So I'm thinking I can run one PVC pipe through the front length of the brooder, through all three sections, with three nipples per section, and fill it from the outside. And I'm thinking PVC feeders are also the way to go.
We use the ones that they peck it to get the water out. I love them no cleaning every day or 4 times a Day. They seem to like them too. We bought the nipples for 4.99 for a pack of 4. Ron went to home depot and bought the PVC pipes, elbows, caps ,etc. it was alot cheeper then buying ready made on line. Pam
laones another suggestion for your chicks is probiotics in all the waters. And you might want to check the fermented feed thread it really does help, also if you give your chicks boiled eggs with a bit of yougert mixed in that also helps while you wait for your fermented feed to begin. I too have alot of waters and have to replace the brooder waters 3 or 4 times a day, we bought nipples and placed them on soda bottles but since we brood in totes they were to tall, so it's back to the drawing board with that...lol. Hope everyone is good.
