"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Camping your baby has nice looking markings. If I were to guess it looks like a pullet to me also.

Thanks Cody! I have three or four marked liked that. Their chick down was mahogany brown and creamy white. They're from the EE or OE eggs, but I don't know where that barring came from.

My kid is obsessed with "zebra" chickens, so it would be nice to be able to keep them. :)

Oh wow! Thanks Topdog, Wish I could have found that info on a website yesterday.

Pam I told him to just keep the deposit since I couldn't find any state shipping bans. Oh well, I can't ask for it back now.

He should know or would be responsible to find out. A good breeder would refund with out being asked. I'm sure he is probally hurting being in a state that has AI. Pam

Well it was only confirmed Friday that AI is in Nebraska. He said he's been shipping. I've gotten no reply since I've canceled. I even emailed him a second time to tell him our state won't accept shipments from states with confirmed cases. Comes as no surprise. No thanks, no nothing. Great way to do business

That sucks, I would hope he contacts you. He should think ahead that you might be a future customer when all the AI is over. Not to mention you told him to keep your deposit he could at least say thank you. What ever happened to costumer service? Talking in general customer service seems to be a thing of the past. Sorry it's a pet peeve of mine. Pam

Personally, Cody, I think you dodged a bullet. The loss of a deposit is nothing in your world compared to his world. Let's pray AI stays away from La. Now if it would just stop raining!!!

Pam, I'm loving you Lt Sussex. I think I'll wait until they start laying to get eggs.

I love the coloring and their temperament. Doesn't mine being handled. I have a legbars hen that is like that too but they are mostly flighty. Every breed and hen has their own personality. The Marens cockerel is from Bev Davis line I have two I'll be posting for sale they came from really dark eggs. Thought I'd let any La-yers know before I put them on Fb. Pam

Looking good Pam :)

Wow........I put in a call to Noah so we can all get a spot in the ARK!!!
All of the Juvies we have growing in the greenhouse were being rather dense and standing around watching the rain by the door. Of course that is the wettest spot in there. The worst were the red Cochin pullets. We adjusted some things so they have less rain coming in. Goofy birds, lol. We brought the reds in and got them all dried and fluffed.

This rain is great for the garden though. And we got some free plants that will replace some I lost with that last nasty storm. What a surprise to get free plants! That was awesome! They were in need of a GOOD soak.

In the summer we do get some flies around the chickens. It isn't bad, but they are annoying. Now when we had the Cornish X they did get kind of bad. I've been reading some personal recommendations for this product and reviews etc. I'm going to try it and see how I like it.

The drawbacks for me is that it is poisonous. So I will have to be very careful where this bait is placed. And my husband's comment was that if it kills the flies SO FAST then if I put bait inside the barn, then the flies would fall down dead and the chickens would be eating the poisoned flies. So I think I will bait right outside of the areas that the chickens are in.
