I'm scared she won't make it. :( She isn't moving at all, hardly even breathing. Is she beyond help? Too late for the antibiotics? I can't leave my house until 3.

I don't give up till they die. You would be suprized what they can survive. I've kept them alive with worse injuries. I haven't delt with the maggots but I bring them in from the get go when they have injuries. I can keep an eye on them. Let us know how things go and where you feel that bump I would check to see if their are more maggots their. Sorry you have to go threw this it's hard when your attached to them. Pam

Right after I sent that picture, I started feeding her with the syringe again. She stood up to poop, then sat right back down in it. I figured this was a great time to give her a bath!

I put her in the laundry room sink like we've been doing, and there weren't nearly as many maggots as before. Or at least I think. I had trouble moving around her feathers because I've become very queasy. I was able to do all of this the last few days, but I couldn't just now. It also seems like the maggots have made a few more wounds. Some of her feathers are just falling off. Now she is standing up again so I feel like there is hope for her strength at least. I feel like I've read this, and some of you may have already told me. Maybe it was from googling. I'm not sure anymore. The last few days have gotten a little blurry. But is there like a maggot pesticide type of product that I can buy to put on her?

I'm so sorry if one of you already answered this. I'm seriously in a blur right now.

I would focus on water and vitamins. Capsortpony told me it's easy to kill a dehydrated hen. After a day or two of tubing fluids into her crop, my pullet was able to eat on her own. Don't be intimidated. It's very simple.

I've been using a syringe and dropping it into her mouth and she has been swallowing it on her own. She just won't drink from the waterer or eat solid food. She is doing a little better though. I'll keep on giving her more.

Where you able to go to TSC to get medical supplies? The maggots are eating her tissues so the sooner you remove them the better. I don't know of anything to use on her to kill them. Pulling then out by hand just where gloves her life depends on it. Call the dog's owner an let then come pull them out. Sorry but I don't know why they would let their dog off leash and think it wouldn't go after your chickens.

Pam I would also love to know if the Tylan would help this sort of thing.

I have it let me go read the back of it.: ok I think it could work it is for myco plasma. It would work but the others are better I've used all three at one time or another. I find liquid corid to be the best and my first go to. Sulmet is for bacteria doesn't mention a certain one so it will kill different kinds. I like to buy them when I don't need them. I try to build a animal first aid kit.
