Two of my mixed-breed babies. Both are half speckled sussex. The roo is half French black copper marans, and the hen is from one of the white layers that live with TD. I'm hoping she lays well, like her mama.

I did a count of birds with hackle or saddle feathers last night and came up with 8 of 22. Way better than when I was going by combs and had 15 of 22 looking like roos.

Anyone have suggestions for water nipples? I am going to put a watering system n the new coop and I have only used the plastic threaded ones from TSC. Is there a better option out there? Are the saddle type any better?

I'm in the same boat!!! I have 23 juvies and I think 12 are Roos. Arggggggg..... Some are cockoo marans and some are BLRW, all are going to be beautiful so it'll come down to personality deciding who gets to stay.

I really love the way this girls feathers shine in the sun. So pretty!
She is a cross breed that I hatched out.

Wyandotte babies are turning out great! They're 3 months old now. I can't wait until I can start hatching from them. They will probably start in the spring.

Does anyone have two incubators? I've been thinking about getting another strictly for hatching, that way I can have the one doing the actual incubating going at all times. Im thinking of making my own from a styrofoam cooler, that way it could hold more
