"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Our garden is finally starting to put out it's produce :D Right now we are bringing in a few green beans and cucumbers. And plenty of hot peppers. They are loving this weather. So I've made some pickles etc.

But here is the big one for me. Our friends fig tree did good this year and he brings most of them to us. His wife won't touch them and he can only eat so many. We make jams and things and give him some of that and I usually give him some of the others I make so he has a variety. We also have him some plants and cuttings he wanted. It's nice to have garden friends!!! Anyway he brought us 5 of these bins and I think that the tree is done. They are really tasty figs!!! I processed some already and had to freeze some because there is so much. Already 30 cups chopped figs :clap from the first 3 bins and then he brought us those last 2. Made 2 different things with them today, plus made candied ginger so I could make Peach and ginger Jam. I'm going to have to ban my kids from the kitchen!! I asked my youngest if she wanted to taste the Apple Kissed Fig Jam. Next time I turned around she had finished it!!!! Only half a small jar (1/2 cup) that I didn't can, but still!!! Haha! She said, "Well, it's good!" :lau

We went out tonight for our anniversery figs were on the menu. We had flatbread thay was more like a craker. It had a mild herbed goat cheese spread on it. Then it was topped with ham which was like porchutto very thin. The figs were sliced in half on top it was drizzled lightly with a fig sauce. It was so good I will take some of my figs an make a verision of it. My neighbor made syrup and made ice cream. Hope I have gave you ideas. Pam

My first chicks! 3 buffs and 3 lavender orpingtons. Pretty excited, trying to keep the chicks at the right temp but it seems the garage is the only place warm enough where they aren't huddled together... It's up to 99 now and they're finally moving around. I'll back the away in a few to keep it around 95. I think they're about a week old.

That's funny! We absolutely love appetizers like that. I made some of this recipe yesterday. But I did add a 2 inch piece of a nice soft vanilla bean. Only 3 small jars. But they are so decadent!! I bet you would like this recipe too. I went ahead and added a slice of the lemon to reach jar too. I already can't wait for an excuse to open them.

Lakones, you really went through a lot of trouble painting the framing and everything else. Really looks good. Takes patience to paint what you have. I applaud you. :clap

I was in construction and remodel work for many years. I know what it takes to paint stuff like this. WORK and TIME!!! :)

Tks! It is more work up front, but I'm hoping in time to come all the painting will make things easier to clean and help keep a healthier environment. It has been a fun project, but I'm ready to be done with it too!

Very nice. The orps are easy and fun. My 5yo picks ours up and walks around talking or singing to them.
