"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Epic multiquote, sorry! I been sick :-/

I turned Emily the pullet out with the flock yesterday! Here's the last update for her. :)

Thats freaking awesome, glad she healed up well for you!

So while I'm waiting on some legbar eggs from Pam I set a few eggs from my mixed flock last night. First off, I must say I am very impressed with the Brinsea and I'm sure this is no surprise to most of you. I mean, I plugged the thing in and within 30 minutes it's was pegged on 99.5 and 45% humidity and stayed there. I got an Accurite combo hygrometer from wally world and it seems to be fine. I'll post updates when I candle them on day 7. This is my 3rd try at hatching and I already feel much better about it with the Brinsea.

Isnt that thing amazing? I :love mine

Awsome! I have read good reviews on the brinsea but can't let myself get a bator...I don't have enough land for the chicks I would be hatching! :)
On another note, I am enjoying having momma take care of these babies. Easiest chicks I've dealt with yet.

Your broody an babies are so adorable!

I have the same bator just a little newer. I love it. Even got unplugged once and still hatched. You'll do fine. Pam
Xs 2! Power went out here, not only did everyone hatch, but on time even! I had only covered the bator in blankets to keep heat in. Like 3 hours total it was out.

Glad you like it! I think it's one of the best ones out there!

Those things are the best money can buy IMHO!
Quick Hi to everybody! I'm on the hop here....Dad had some complications from his surgery yesterday so is still in the hospital. Hopefully the anesthesia will work its' way out of his system by this afternoon & we can bring him home today or tomorrow.
Smh im sorry it went kinda bumpy. While i was Grandmas caregiver, she was in the hosptial for a fall, the meds had her hallucinate, and she was a dementia patient... It took Hours once to convince her that the hosptial wasnt on fire...
I am trying to find some RIRs in the Shreveport area to purchase, or possibly some BRs.  Hope that some are available, I don't want them too young maybe close to laying age.  Thanks
Did you want hatchery or heritage stock RIRs? Big difference... Im in Baton Rouge area, no good for you :(
I have 5 broody hens sitting on eggs I can't keep the chicks so I wanna give them away instead of selling them there gonna n silkie chicks
I know at least two of my customers want silkies, PM me and maybe we can sell em for you :)
Question - do y'all wait until day 7.to candle. It's day 3 and I'm curious LOL
Ive candled on day three before, like Camping told ya, theres really hardly ayrhing you can see so its not really worth it. I candle on days 7,14 and 18. Day 7 you can usually see alot of veining and a little movement. I wait until day 14 to remove "clears" and "early quitters." At that time, the eggs would be Very far behind, if theyre still alive, so i can let myself toss em. And of course on day 18, im looking at whos alive and locking down. Hatching and Candling is all Very addictive, beware! ;)

8 bresse so far. One Isbar fully developed died in shell. The other two are alive hope they make it. Pam
Yay! :fl that the Isbars make it! When do you call lights out on the bator? Is it a set day or anything? Ive been pretty lucky that theres been an obvious time for me, each time so far... I gotta get outside an take pics one of these days. FF is working well for me, ive only had a hard time just recently: tryn to introduce the littles to it, theyre wiping their lil beaks off each time like they accidently ate poop or sumthin :-/

I agree one poulet. And one roo love their color. I ended up with 10 Bresse and 2 Isbars. I will go one or two days past hatch day. If I see no life I quit. These hatched over 3 days. This was a strange hatch for me. I always open up unhatched eggs. Four weren't fertilized . Four died in eggs some fully formed. Some were in distress and would die without me helping them hatch. I think the problem was humidity during lock down I couldn't get it to stay up I could get it to 50% but it wouldn't stay. Next hatch I'll use a sponge. Pam

These are the newest addition to our flock. We have three hens and one roo. They are buff laced polish. They are supposed to be 14 months old but none of the hens have laid since we got them a few weeks ago.
