Ok, I got to brag on my girls...they have already been laying good this fall, but the last week I'm getting 10 or 11 eggs a day!

Of course now that I have bragged on them I'll probably not get any tomorrow :)
 
Things are Ca-Razy around here! I'm working hard at improving my health. Still planting a little at a time in the garden on sunny days. It's pretty soggy out there right now though. With our raised beds the plants do well though. Trying to do a serious sort/clean out of this house. Who knows how long that will take! But this time of year is better since I'm stuck inside. My kid has climbed on board that and has sorted a bunch out of her room. :ya

A few days ago I inspected my red Cochin pullets from this year's breeding and only want to keep 6 on to watch them grow some more. Culling at this point is much easier that I would like it to be. Pick a fault and remove it across the board. No side sprigs and No vulture hocks allowed! I only have kept 1 cockerel that looks ok so far. The good at this point is that those 6 do have better type already that their Moms. Wider and looks like they will have better cushion. Now let's hope I can make up my mind on setting up my breeding pens come spring time. Still crossing black to red again this next spring. Tiny, baby steps. But it's been fun so far!

One of the ones that I have to let go of because of her comb. I'm throwing down feed and learning lessons. Nice trade I'd say. We hadn't been getting mini eggs lately. Most of our flock of large fowl are either on the much older side or are just about to come in to lay. After Christmas it's time for me to schedule a butcher day for some of the older ladies. And we just got a new scale today so we can deworm accurately. Those fatty hens broke my old scale :lol:
 
Merry Christmas to all of you & I hope 2016 will be a good year for all of us. I miss my chickens.... keep looking out the back for them... I will get more some day. In the meantime, enjoy hearing all about your escapades.
