"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

No update. The volunteers are in S. Africa until almost Mardi Gras. We've been scavenging pallets. Matt said new paint was too expensive (he wanted to use leftovers) so I've sold eggs, selling pullets tomorrow, and took orders for quilted table runners (made from scraps) to get enough money for the tinted stain I want. After tomorrow I should have enough to get a couple of gallons, enough to get started. We're doing everything mismatched, so if the tint is off it won't matter. I'm going to stain the boards before they go up.

If I can get the front walls and the south side done, then it will look cohesive (at least from the road) and I can start looking for planters and bulbs. Someone suggested I trade eggs for bulbs or plant starts. I think it's the wrong time of year, but I'll still try. :D

AND we're clearing out some overgrown azaleas and I've considered digging a few up to sell.

Next week is going to be busy busy busy!

There is a La. Plant group on FB. Next time I log on I'll get the name if you don't find it on your own. I could have giving you all kinds of plants.Oh well next time your this way or if I go visit my Aunts I'll pass your way. Full grown Azaleas are expensive at the nursery. You sew I have some things I need done but have no sewing machine wish I'd of known oh well. Pam

They're 36"x12" or 36"x24" and the wall hangings are 12"x12". I'm using patterns from the book "farm girl vintage."

Here is one I did at Christmas!

Its good to hear from you! I :love seeing the pics uve been posting of the littles! Theyre lookin so good!!

I'll be reading about your quail in a min. All my breeds are laying now some of my eggs are staying clean because the coops are up off the ground. They are poulet eggs mostly but i'm going to do a hatch soon. I had been told poulet eggs give you smaller chickens. Now someone else told me they catch up in size so I figure I'll give it a try and grow a few out to see if this is true. Pam

I think I'm going to Jackson next weekend. If there's time then maybe I'll swing back by. ;)

The bottom pic I pulled from google, but I have all those patterns! The blocks can be 6" square or 12" square. I'm doing the wall hanging (1 12" block) for $10, the 36"x12" table runner is $25, and the 36"x24" is $45. I don't really know what a quilt would run. I was doing 36"x36" baby quilts for $45 a couple of years ago, but they weren't very intricate blocks.

Got a whole bunch done this week! I ran bird netting over one of my runs, first to stop hawks and second to insure secure breeding pens. Everyone is much happier now with the outside time.

Second, I finished spring my coop and got one of the breeding pens finished so now all my breeds are separated! That was huge! Especially since I'm just starting to get my energy back and I'm doing all the work myself. My husband is working long hours plus doing extra long visits at the chiropractor, so he hasn't been home much. And hopefully I'll have some Barnvelders hatching Monday, Jordan is super excited to have chicks again, he is my 9 year old.

Morning y'all. I'm in a bit of a pickle with this senior lab I adopted. Turns out he's been my mystery predator for 5 or so birds. A few nights ago he went on a little murder spree and killed three; I found the bodies stacked neatly in the azaleas. The fourth is plucked bald from shoulders to tail.

So I need to find him a home. He's not good with chickens, but he's good with kids, cats, and other dogs. He's a really good family dog or yard dog. We've got him house and crate trained. He will sit and stay before eating, and we were working on "lay down."

He's a chocolate lab, 8, not neutered. We got him in October and I worked with him on the chickens and he was doing really well! But it's getting to be our busy time of year and I'm not going to have time to retrain. His previous owner said he was a good duck dog, but we haven't tried him on that. I do know he has a soft mouth.

If y'all wouldn't mind spreading the word or watching for folks who would want a dog, I'd appreciate it. I'll deliver him anywhere in the state or east of Beaumont.

He really is a good boy, and I've championed for him and worked with him for several months. He's just never been a good fit for us, like a hexagon peg and an octagon hole.

So I have a week to decide. The project I have is I bought silk curtains on sale. They are twice the size of my window. So I have 2 windows in thet room. I want to get them cut in half and the cut side hemmed up. So I'll have two sets for the price of one. So you can think of a price. We can meet back up or I'll pay to have them shipped back. Pam
