"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I was gonna ask you if you've tasted any yet, but it looks like I will be doing my own taste test. I came home from church to find a neighbor's dogs killing chickens. The got 7 of the Breese and my Isbars pullet. One Breese pullet was able to hide and one of the Roos may make it. I've yet to find the Isbars roo.

I'm so sorry lakones! There is nothing worse than losing our babies to predators! Especially neighbor dogs, my has run of with many and the owners never reimbursed us for the loss.

I've got bantam Barnvelders hatching in the next couple days! They are the cutest chicks! Then collecting my Cream Legbars, Langshans, olive eggers and auto sexingEE. Plus one of my Barnvelders is broody she is sitting on about a dozen Barnvelders eggs! Happy, happy. :)

That's terrible Lakones. So sorry to hear this. I don't know how I'd react if something like this happened to my birds.

I'm trying to tempt mine to go broody but having no luck. Guess I will have to wait until my silkie grows up :)

I had a VERY loud ONE-SIDED conversation with the dogs' owner yesterday and had to go back today! I was out feeding this morning and here the dogs come again. I chased them home and had to wake her up again. From now on I will have a side arm with me and she has been so warned, I'm not doing this again!!!! She puts them in a chain link kennel outside, but the can open the latch, it's the same type of kennels I use for my chickens, see the problem. The dogs have killed most of her chickens so now I guess they are looking for more. It's not like the are next door even, I live on 9 acres, she lives on 12 and there are 4 other properties between us. These dogs are traveling to get here!

Maybe try some baling wire on the kennel for the meantime? U know were on your side, Shoot Em! Apparently they dont care a whole lot for their aggresive little dogs, letn em be put in a kennel they can escape from, letn em run free...

I had the same thing happening here. But the offending dog was my landlord's dog. Sticky situation! They put the dog on a chain, but when they forget, here he comes. I don't even let them free range anymore with all the predators. I'm on 5 acres and between the dog, a fox and chicken hawks, they do a bunch of damage. But they do have a20×15 foot run on either side of my coop. That helps. But it's really frustrating dealing with it all.
