What kind of incubator do you have? Do you like it? Pros and cons? I am ready to trash my little giant styrofoam hatcher.

I started with an LG 9300 and i hated it, fried more eggs than i hatched, key is stable environment, i know people who have built boxes for them and that might be a consideration for you.

Mrs Pams right, i love my Brinsea Octo 40 Advanced, its forced air with a heating element. Like what camping was descibing in the LG 92 vs the 93. It is Very stable and i :love it. Found it on craigslist for cheap or else i couldnt have afforded it tho and those oppurtunities do come around from time to time but buying one new would cost you an arm, no joke.

If you were interested in another styro, the Hova bator Genisis is descibed by a friend of mine as being "in another class of styro."

All said, best thing i think you can do? Run it over with a truck, buy the parts, and build a coolerbator ;)

Just wanted to update y'all on my shipped Bielefelder eggs. I followed Ruby's advice, the air cells had stabilized by day 16 when I put them in a carton in the hatcher. Today is day 21. Out of 13 eggs, 5 are not showing movement/pipping and no sounds from the eggs. Out of the 8 eggs left, 5 have hatched, 1 is unzipping and two have internally pipped and are chirping.:yesss: So, I would say that was a great hatch with all the odds against those babies. I will assist the remaining eggs if needed.  It is my nature to assist those in need, esp tiny defenseless babies.:D Will follow-up with pictures when they are finished hatching and can be removed from hatcher.

:clap

I agree...reading everyone's hatching makes me want to so bad. But I've only had chickens for about 8 weeks so I figure I'll wait till I have a little more experience.

. But I am thinking of getting 2 more baby chicks around the end of April. My current girls will be around 3 months old so should be situated.
