"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

30 isnt a bad # by my standards at all, more important than numbers IMO, watch the growth of the air cell. If you trace them while candling on days set 7, 14, and 18 then post pics, I would help you judge your moisture loss.

X3! What your humidity needs to be depends on the climate of your area an the humidity in the room your incubators are in. I've even found the time of year changes how much water mine need. Also, if you are incubating different breeds, they may have different humidity and temperature needs. My Wyandottes I would consider a normal egg, but my Marans need less humidity and my bantams would hatch better with a slightly lower temperature. Air cell size and how early or late your eggs hatch will tell you so much

They're back!!!  My son has a friend who's a cop down in Plaquemines Parish.  We give him rabbit, coons, deer and wild hog meat all the time.  Also fish we shoot bowfishing.  He's black and knows everyone on the East Bank.  Well, he has seen Jake and Frazzley in action.  He was amazed by them!!

Anyway, as my son was telling him about the missing dogs, the expression on his face looked like he almost knew something.  My son didn't ask specific questions, he just told the cop that he wasn't interested in pressing charges.  He just wanted the dogs back.  The cop Ricky, must have spread the word.

Well, today we were building a floating dock and guess who comes dragging in?  Jake and Frazzley!!!  I tell ya the truth, I was so happy I could have done backflips if I weren't old, fat, crippled up and uncoordinated.  It appears they were in a pen with other dogs because there is some bite holes in various places.  Neither one is gonna back down from a grizzly bear.  They'll fight!

So, they've been cleaned-up, patched-up and hugged to the point of exhaustion.  My 4 YO grandaughter has been mothering over them since their return.  And, I think she is more excited about them being inside than the dogs are!  I think my DIL is now willing to let them live inside from now on.  Everyone was so devastated by their disappearance that DIL is softened-up.  I think she was grieving their loss as much as the grandson and I were.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, PMs and y'alls sympathy.

That makes me so happy! Told you don't give up and get the word out! So glad all ended well :highfive::weee :hugs Pam

My incubator is holding a steady humidity of 30%.  This is the "dryest" I can currently get.  And, this without one drop of added water.

What do y'all think of this number?  This is my first attempt at the "dry hatch method".  It is not easy to change something you've been doing for a long time.  Especially for an old guy.

30 % is fine for dry. By the way we all love our dogs like family.Lol!

Happy to help when your ready. My hens hatched 3 so far with more eggs to come. Pam

I am so leary yet of shipped eggs. I just did my second hatch with my own chicken eggs. It was really fun.
Maybe I will get brave but I know what the post office does to packages.

I just had shipped eggs come from PA and they were in great shape! Only one was cracked, and it's just a bit of spider webbing. Air cells are loose but not totally detached. I can't wait to hatch them!

Their is always a risk with shipped eggs. The PO now offers live animal shipping for an extra 10.00. The last shipped eggs I hatched was 8 chicks out of 10. I was happy with that. You could go the shipped chicks instead. No pressure just options. Pam

Hello to you to. I had a few busy days but I'm back now. How have you been? Pam

Good here, getting ready for summer. I have my NPIP inspection next week and I'm nervous about that. The state vet had no probs with birds from non-NPIP sources (so long as they were properly quarantined) and no probs with the free range guineas. The guy I talked to today didn't seem keen on either of those... Guess we'll see.

I've got cute little fluff butts hatching! All sorts of mixes. :love

I stopped getting hona eggs for awhile, then I found the hen's secret nest. :rant Guess she decided the coop was too crowded with all those juvies. I'm going to sell some pairs just as soon as I decide which roos to keep. One that I liked has a weird little knob on his comb. :/
