I hatched out excess roos and then I bought some copper marans that were mostly roos. I generally hold them until either I see they can get along or find a new home for them. The marans are highly desirable for farm flock roos because they are fairly gentle and well mannered, my bosses' family took all of them. I often will add a hen to help sell a roo, this helps me place them -- definitely not making a profit, here. I am mainly offering in case you have to get rid of him and don't have any options. This is a farm and mine is a farm flock, sounds like you are wanting more of a pet home. I have had good luck on CL with chickens especially if it's a lone roo because some people start with hens and later find that they want a roo. The only time I have stewpot buyers interested is when I have a half dozen or more advertized, most of the stewpot people are actually coming from NO and it's not worth the drive for less than a 1/2 dozen or more. Best wishes on rehoming, if you get in a bind with the town and have to move him fast, let me know.Hey, thanks for volunteering! I'm not in a real big hurry yet. Was planning on trying to hold on to him til he's fully grown unless he's 100% going to be safe from the big boys.
Yea, you're about an hour and a half from us. I'd surely be willing to meet up with you. I was sifting through some of your posts/threads and see you've sold a few roosters. Are you planning on keeping him or re-homing? Sorry, I have to ask. We want to be sure he's going to a permanent safe home!
My boyfriend's mom is looking around on facebook. I don't have one. I'm a bit skiddish about craigslist so haven't checked. We've come across some crazy people when hiring for a job lol.
Did you look for any rooster/animal sanctuaries for him? Might be worth a search.
