I have one mixed roo right now and he's getting a lil too cocky so I think maybe another one will put him in his place. I have no preference, other than non aggressive towards kids.
Sorry it's been a crazy couple of weeks I have a couple of really gentle 7-8 month old mixed boys i will try to get pictures of the sun decides to shine

Looking for anyone in Slidell (the city limits) who is interested or trying to petition the city council in changing the ordinance.

35 years is a long time and the reasons iv gotten for it not being re-visited are simply "put up with egg prices"

Yall can't have chickens in slidell?!?
In city limits is not allowed. I believe we are the only city in about a 100 mile radius that prohibits any ownership. Mandeville even allows for chickens.

I'm really interested in getting in touch with anyone that can help organize/push for a amendment. They amended for a local high school but private citizens? Sorry, you have no rights.

That's crazy, I never knew

One idea would be a petition drive to amend presented at a council meeting. Or here I can ask to speak during the "new business" part of a council meeting. Your power is going to be in getting as many people to speak up as possible. You should be able to set up a limited plan that would allow some chickens (probably 10 or less) with some guidelines for the chicken house/coop. You may get some pushback on allowing roosters and they will probably not want to allow enough chickens for an egg business. Negotiate.
Did you read through any of chicken laws & ordinances? That will give you some ideas on what could be possible. Egg prices are a good reason but the whole bird flu issue that is driving the egg prices is scary. Maybe have to limit things to covered coops, chicken tractors and small flocks. Good luck to you!
