WHOO-HOOOO!!!!!!! Our first "cool front" is on the way! supposed to be 60 degrees by Sunday morning! & the humidity is lower too!

What's everybody doing for the Labor Day weekend? I'm clearing out my "grow-out" pen so I can move the new peachicks into it in a couple of more weeks - they are rapidly outgrowing the brooder! Also getting my fall garden spot ready to plant. This year I'm using "seed tapes" for the lettuce, beets, mustard & turnips. They're easy to make & will have straighter rows & not have to thin out seedlings.

Finally got a good rooster here -- my Blue Wheaton Ameracauna -he is pretty to look at, nice to the hens & non-aggressive to people.

Getting my copy of "Katie Up and Down the Hall" in the mail today to start reading too!

Have a nice and safe Labor Day everybody!

We are working on the coop and run this weekend, building up the foundation and maybe starting on a roof for the run. I will be putting down some Naked Lady bulbs and getting ready for fall veggies too! All our muscadines are finished so I will be making jelly after church!

I like the idea of using the seed tapes,.. think I will look for some too,.. thanks for reminding me,.. and enjoy your weekend!

Bebop, I wouldn't think so. I don't garden much anymore-animals take up too much of my time. But I think you should be ok to start seeds. It's still pretty early. What are you planting? I'm thinking of growing a little crop of Kale and maybe Swiss Chard for the birdies. I've heard they're great for all birds-caged, geese, poultry... Maybe some mini pumpkins too-just for the heck of it.

That reminded me I have seed starts! lol Just some old sunflowers to see if they are not duds and some peas.

All is well here, Thanks!!!! I'm currently hatching out 8 Serama's to add to my collection. JUST TIRED OF THE HEAT!!!!!!! I wish someone would turn down the thermostat, and make it do one of those 3 day slow rains.

Melting in West Monroe,

Baralak/~Joe
