Definetly 8 tops if your going by square footage. 32 sf ... 4 sf per bird. Now, how is there run going to be and are you going to lock them in the coop??? I think that's a major factor. I find since I don't have an enclosed coop I can hold more chickens than you normally would, since they are never locked in and can go directly in the run. So it really depends.............

I am doing the run as pictured, 8x20. I would leave the door open unless there is bad weather or something. The actual sq. footage would be 36 (counting the boxes) and the run would be 160. I see different numbers different places. One spot, it said 2 sq ft. per bird if they have run access at all times. Sigh. I think 12 would be my max anyway. We have 8 now.

I'd say if you have enough roosting space you should be fine with 12. I'd say the only "bad weather" to keep them locked up would be a hurricane. There has never been any other "bad weather" that kept my birds inside!! Feeder I would keep inside, the waterer I would put outside!!

Hello everyone from Denham Springs! I was wondering if anyone knows a place locally that processes chickens? I got 13 or 14 dark brahma roosters with my 6 buff Orpington, and 3 barred holland pullets. I feel I am becoming attached to them all, but the little roo's are already a handful, so I know in a few months they will have to go. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Let me know if you find someone. I am in Ponchatoula and I can not do it.
WELCOME!

I forgot to post a pic of these eggs I just set!! I was pretty impressed with the color of the Golden Cuckoo Marans eggs!! Not the darkest, but not the lightest I've seen!!

I don't see where they say poultry at all and if in the Other category it's $10 a head..... That's outrageous!!!

I am reading that as $10 per head disposal fee added to the order for each animal. So, if you bring 1 cow and 2 hogs, $30 disposal fee.
