How's everybody been doing?
I have been pretty busy the past few weeks with the gardening and trying to get ready for
my oldest daughters wedding Saturday. Well the wedding is supposed to be Saturday but what
most don't know, the "dress rehersal" Friday night is going to turn into the wedding. Saturday we will
gather up at the place at the local State Park that we rented for food and cake. My dad is a minister
and he is doing the wedding so when they asked him Monday night about doing it at the rehersal he was
all for it. I am like my daughter and son-in-law to be, and am ready to get it over with. I think we are all just
wanting the rehersal supper to get here...Seafood gumbo and fried catfish. Saturday will be jambalaya
and sandwich trays and such.
To all the new mebers, welcome to the Louisiana thread of BYC. I have been kinda slacking on welcoming our new members
lately.
One of my dads church members has a pea sheller that he sent back home with my dad after church Sunday
night so we started Monday off with a bang. We picked, shelled and put in the freezer 7 1/2 bushels of peas.
Ended up with 63 quarts off of those and then I turned around this morning and picked and shelled 2 bushels.
We have all of our corn ground plowed up again and are ready to plant our fall peas and butterbeans. We are going to
try doing these as a "you pick" crop. If someone wants them we will sell at a lower price for them to pick their own. I think we
are going to end up with about 2-3 acres of peas.
I was going to comment on the issue of biosecurity but I will do that later. I've written enough for tonight.
Oh, Missi...glad for you that some of the Golden Cuckoos are turning out to look good.
Might be a few days but will check in with you all later.
