Are we really all talking about getting rid of our birds?!?! I'm with everyone else. I want to weed it down to a couple of breeds and stick to those! It is just too expensive and time consuming otherwise.

I'm with you Gracie. A couple of breeds and that's it. All my time is devoted to the chickens. All of the other animals can pretty much take care of themselves but it seems the chickens are the most needy and the most expensive. I want to get down to about 20 ducks, keep all the geese, turkeys, rabbits, sheep and goat and maybe have about 50 chickens if that many. I'm tired.

after listening to ya'll the past couple of pages, makes me glad that i only live on 2 acres (keep wishing for more, so people could call me ol'McDonald and sing songs lol) but the size of my place keeps me in check and the dw keeps me in reality!!!!
......now only if i could get my neighbor to sell me his 2 acres and move.....

Im gonna try to keep my chicken math in check for now on because I have way less than many others on here and feed is getting expensive for even me. I figure if I can keep it under about 40 Im ok.

Reminds me of once when I got stung by a red wasp right on my eyebrow and boy I'm about near deathly allergic to them anyhow, I came a crying and a squalling to Mom, granny, somebody of that nature, boy it was hurting, burning like it was on fire. Well whomever was on guard duty at the time grabbed me up and took me over to Aunt Kate's house for some treatment. Well Aunt Kate dipped snuff that ol' sour Garret brand the kind where you could keep the glass it came in and use them for drinking glasses"yeah!" I remember, boy do I remember. Well she always had a mouthful of that crap cause she was having to constantly wipe it of her mouth and lips and when she talked it was a spewing eveywhere know what I mean, well she reached in her mouth
and got a wad of that warm gooey mess and smeared it on that wasp sting let me tell it must've worked and worked fast cause I left outta there like a streak of lightnin' and forgot about the whole thing after that ordeal. MAN o man that was somemore kinda ruff I tell ya.

that's funny!! I do use tobacco mixed with some tooth paste and it works really good!!
Yeah iodine is good to have on hand. I've been emailing back and forth about some of my birds for sale all evening. I was starting to think this guy was a moron and I didnt want to sell him any of my birds. He asked a bunch of the same questions twice. I just now realized that it was two different guys LOLs. Both of them are coming tomorrow afternoon, after going into town to go to Lowes. Weird coincidence that just threw me off. I think its time for bed
