Ok...here's the plan...Julie,I need some boudin....lol.... like contraband it in ur bumper or somethin...lol... J/K

It came from a local hardware store.6 sacks of starter,3 sacks of all stock, and a sack of scratch.Haven't been to Sam's for my rice yet. There is a feedmill a lil bit away with feed for like 190/ton and another with feed for like 140/ton. Gonna look into it and see if they can grind it.

When I come down there and bring you some boudin, you will have to show me where that place is.

ummm somedody mention boudain lol

I'm totally with you on that. That is something you should consider. The feed mill that I bought feed from and who no longer sells the feed that I would buy, sold in bulk. I would but 2 -3 tons at one time and it would last a couple months. And it was NOT as expensive as what I'm paying now for feed that I buy in the feed store. This is outrageous. You have waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy more animals than us, so I can imagine what your bill is.

I'm glad that I don't have any habits like drinking or smoking or shopping because I would not be able to afford to buy feed.

Not sure why they are not using the perch. I use 2 x 4's so my chickens can have a flat surface and they love it. I know this sounds crazy but have you tried raising the roost to a higher height. I know they are not roosting at 2 feet on their own, so why would they want to roost higher huh? Just a thought. All of my chickens go for the top roost. Do you have other chickens in there with them that are picking on them and making them not want to roost or are they alone? Not sure what's going on with them. Maybe someone else will come along and offer more info that I have. Sorry.

I use the same thing as Julie & you do for a roost - 2x4s flat side, mine are about 5 feet off the ground. I never had any that didn't use the roosts so I don't know - maybe try the ladder like Cadjien said.

I like the ladder idea. Im going to give it a shot. If that does not work then maybe Ill leave them be. I keep the coop spotless and completly change the wood shavings monthly so I guess maybe they are happy since its clean. Thanks,

Yeah, one of the semi-local feed stores bought out the local mill we had here and jacked the prices sky high.Someone emailed me telling me a bout a mill up near hattiesburg that sells a pelleted and corn feed for like 190 a ton or $10/100# (i think) and she feeds it to her horses cows goats chickens...everything..... another wrote me about a place in poplarville that sells bulk for like 140 or so but u cant feed to horses.Which doesn't bother me cause Steve isn't on grains.Strictly grass and hay.But I'd like to see if they could grind it cause some of my picky azz birds wont eat pellets....lol....

Hey, I have a quick question.........

I am noticing a lot of wasps flying around in the chicken yard. They are trying to build nests but I am knocking them down. What would happen to a chicken, duck or goose if they got stung by a wasp? Would I know if they got stung? Would they have a reaction like humans? And if so, what do you give a chicken or duck or goose if they get stung by a wasp?
