"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Hey, I looked for Co-Op's in your area and there are quite a few in Ville Platte!! Here's a google link! http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&...gc.r_pw.&fp=186dbbec6f4e722c&biw=1024&bih=571

I don't think you can get Sevin in a fifty pound bag . I have looked with no success , but that's not to say that a fifty is out there somewhere . Think I will contact the company
and find out . How do I get that saying off my post about my baby Satinette ? He/she is grown now and I have a new pet .

Let me know if you find out anything about the 50lb bag.

Click on Profile and then click on personality (located on the left). Then you can go in and delete the info.

Yes, I'm talking about lice and mites. I don't see anything on mine either but I dust them anyway. Some of them, the eye cannot see that well. I don't take any chances.

When I change out the nesting boxes, I also sprinkle dust in the nesting boxes as well.

I've never dusted my chickens but I put the dust in their "dust holes' in their run & in the nesting boxes & the coop - never had a problem w/mites & lice here. So you all are actually putting it on them, themselves? when they're on the roost?

That's a pretty flock you have Orpimom!

I'm reading all about ya'll's adventures w/the ducks & quail & sheep -- too hot to get into anything else here right now but taking notes for the future!

Thanks Terri... I thought they looked horrible from playing in the mud puddles and all the rain.... ugghh...

Good morning everyone!! Already hot today, and already had a morning of thunderstorms.Back to the flock of Chucks(chicken/ducks)...lol.. Waitin to hear from my dirt delivery guy

Good morning. It surely is hot. I don't go out until that time as well. It's too hot for me. Last night was kinda cool, so it wasn't as bad but I still did sweat a lot. It doesn't take me long to break out in a sweat. I don't know why.

This morning I drove out of my yard and saw my neighbor's kitten by the side of the road and got out to put him back in his cage. I was only out there for about 3 minutes and my entire face was sweating. This is ridiculous! I had to dry off with a paper towel.

What month does it start getting cool?

Can you post some pics of your cages?? Please!!

I will take some pics of them tomorrow for ya.I simply made them out of welded wire and hung them in the quail coop. They are 5' long,16"high, an 32" deep with a 4 inch tray on the front for the eggs to roll out.I hang it at about 2" drop from back to front,There are holes cut big enoeugh for the egg to fit,and that allows the eggs to easily roll to the front as they move around, without breaking. The top an sides are 1x2 welded wire an 1/2x1 on the bottom.Their was an automatic waterer in each one,and the feed was in troughs hung on the OUTSIDE of the cages. The wire is wide enough for the quail to fit their heads through and eat. They cannot scratch an dust in the feed, which is where 95% of ur waste comes from. Most of my wire pens are going to the wildlife center for rehab use.Got my dirt coming tomorrow!!
