And they are really good Roos so far like no peckin and they dont fight and only one has begun to crow and he only does it when the hubby gets up for work lol

Ha when I had all 9 roos still they would have serious crowing contests!! It was a trip!!

Good morning everyone. Ya'll have been busing chatting it up. Everyone's pics are great. I love seeing pics of everyone's animals. Well, let me re-phrase that. ALMOST everyone's pics are great. I don't want to be a party pooper but SOMEONE posted a pic of SOMETHING and this SOMEONE knows that I am HORRIFIED of THIS TYPE OF BIRD. I don't know why this SOMEONE would do that to me. Is there anyone on this thread by the name of LA MIKE? If so, you know what you did.

Missi, if you are ever able to post pics of those varmints that lurk on your property at night, please post them. I would love to see what is out hunting when you all are inside sleeping.

We are almost finished with the feed/storage shed. I will post pics as soon as it's done. We were able to get free materials, including a brand new door from a construction site where they were building a house. They were done building the house and gave us everything that was left over. Our 16 ft flat bed trailer was filled with stuff.

Hope everyone has a good day!

A NN Frizzle ...love it!!..lol.... I tried to count my showgirls yesterday.Once they all get old enough to be together,I will have apretty good brood.I have 5wht females laying, and a really nice blk pullet and a really nice blue pullet close. In grown roos,I have a blue,a blue w/red wings(actually pretty cool) and a red boy. And a pretty blue cockerel. I have babies in white, black, blue and red(ish? something),and some ?..lol. I have about 20-30 babies from 2wks up...Got a few regular silkies in the bunches (with NN gene).

Was hanging out with the chickens yesterday evening while collecting junk for the burn pile and such, and now I'm SERIOUSLY confused...lol... To start,I have a roo and 2 hens that I'm not completely sure of the breed. One of the hens I'm pretty positive is a Golden Cuckoo Maran. The other has better patterning for Barred Rock, but is not getting some gold leakage in the hackles.First thought would lean to GCM because of this, but knowing that poor genage could cause gold to leak into the hackles of barreds throws me off. The roo looks to be a Double gened BR,but I'm not wonderful on what a GCM roo should look like. The reason I'm having this issue is because I hatched both at the same time and din't mark the danged babies as they hatched.(mostly because they started hatching in the night and a few were in the bottom of the bator when I took them out,so they mixed up anyway.I had originally had a beautiful Golden barred colored roo (which I knew was the GCMroo) but lost him.I have a couple younger ones, but I covered the trays and toe marked them...lol...
Then I have to decide if I want to keep them.Only being 2 or 3 of them to have to seperate for breeding. I had a lady call me yesterday looking for a couple hens.Something got her hen on the nest? and her rooster has been lonely... I've tried calling a few people I know sells chickens, but they dont wanna sell any hens.I really like my girls,so you know I'm at odds....

Another issue with the birds is that in my Orps,I have some that I have no clue if they are hens or roos. One is 6- 8 mos old,has looked and acted like a pullet the whole time, but now has me guessing.HUGE wattles, small comb,HUGE bird...but is the oldest. All of my blacks are turning out big.Shim does have sorta a bump where a spur would come in,but I have seen hens with just bumps. ABSOLUTELY NO CROWING from any of them.Only crows I get are my bantams and SG.??!!!I'm going to try to get some pics and see if ya'll can help...lol...

Wow the cockeral in the first pick is awesome lookink I think

Very striking! I like the rosecomb. What breed is it?

Well the to possible hens they came from one was a Black Star and the other was a Rhode Island red (which had the rose comb) so it had to be that one. The roostor was Turd lol idk he was mix with dont know what.

Thanks for all the congrats!

Cant wait for 4 day weekend. I took one of my last vacation days this friday and where close Monday for Labor day.

Bhazzell those are some cool looking roos, I like all the colors.

If they are all raised together from the start they are not so bad to fight amoungst each another but there WILL be an established dominant one in the pecking order when youll have the most trouble is by adding new roosters in with such a bunch but other than that they will co-exist somewhat peacefully if all are used to each other and there are NO hens in sight or nearby. Sometimes they will gang up on the least dominant one and you may have to separate it to solitary confinement, also.
