Good morning everybody! Who's battening the hatches for the tropical system coming in?
I am reading forecasts of temps in the 80s & I can't even remember the last time it was below 90 here!
Got to go fill up the generator gas cans, just in case. Then home to put on a pot of soup!

Hi, Louisiana peeps. I'm in Youngsville, waiting for the tropical storm that's headed this way. For those of you who are in the storm's path, what are you doing to protect your chickens? I have 7 hens and they only really go into their coop to lay. They prefer to roost on the roof.
My question is, should I locked them in the coop until the storm is over or just let them be and trust their instincts that they will go to safety on their own?

Hey there. I'm always a nervous wreck when I hear about storms and hurricanes. Is it really coming our way? I'm in Opelousas. I'm wondering if we will get any bad weather.

The news just said 20+ inches of rain for New Orleans and surrounding areas. We are in NE MS and they are forecasting 7 inches for us!

The news just said 20+ inches of rain for New Orleans and surrounding areas. We are in NE MS and they are forecasting 7 inches for us!
We are in the warning and watch areas.Predicted for 15-20 inches with 5ft above normal tides on top of that. We sat down on the beach last night watching the water come in...While I know this is in no way a Katrina...It still mortifies me.Specially so close to the anniversary. Kind of like a warning to us.I'm a couple miles off the beachfront,with railroad tracks between us,but we still may see some flooding because of all the bayou connections and such.You already cannot see the piers on some of the docks. The beach in the pictures below is usually about 300-500 foot from wall to water...Here the water is coming through the wall. The last pic is a picture through the wet window of one of the boat docks.See how the water is almost on the road and you can bareley see the pilings? The land usually goes to the pilings.Kinda a marshy part.
