Mike, how did you know!

Believe it or not & contrary to popular belief, it's VERY easy to live in my world. If you follow some of these few things that were taken from my list of 2999 ways to stay healthy, then you would be ok.
gig.gif

1. Don't walk through the area where a person has coughed or sneezed with his/her mouth wide open or did not cover their nose when sneezing.
2. Limit hand shaking to a very minimum.
3. Do not allow the cashier to give you your change back after she has sneezed and coughed in her mouth and touches your money.
4. Clean your office phone, light switch and door knob after a sick co-worker has visited your office and left his/her germs and then ban them from your office until they are no longer sick. Also spray your office with Lysol once they have left.
5. Make sure that visitors who are sick (cold, etc.) do NOT enter your home.
6. Use hand sanitizer after pumping gas, using a grocery cart, touching a door to enter a building, etc.
7. Do not eat out of the office snack bags after a co-workers has stuck his/her hand in the chip bag. You don't know where that hand has been.
8. Wear rubber gloves when doing chicken/animal chores.
9. Take green tea extract tablets every day.
10. Drink a cup of hot green tea EVERY DAY.

These are a few simple rules that I follow as far as human bio-security.

Follow these rules and the other 2000+ and you will have a long life of being healthy and staying out of the doctor's office and not calling in sick. This is a proven method that has worked for the past 17 years of my life. Oh, and you'll have enough sick time to give away to the your other sick co-workers who call in sick on a monthly basis because they didn't take my advice.

P.S. Mike, there ARE some days, that I'm afraid to breath. I don't know who has exhaled breaths of (germy) air right before I have arrived in that particular space.

Paiseneax I don't know what to say, that is just one weird experience!

Missi I brought that youngster home in a sweat, so I'm kicking butt right back at 'em!

Cadjien that's just cool about your deer!

Julie, the skeeters have been just awful here too, to the point I asked Jim to start using the smoker thing (fogger from Lowe's) around the house again to drive them off. They'll eat you up otherwise!

OK off to bed here, up tomorrow & back on the road to get in 3 solid miles (don't have my young partner w/me so I can take my time)!

For the record................

I wasn't imaginging the amount of mosquitos that I am seeing. On the news last night, there was a report about the amount of mosquitos that are around. They said that some places have it worst than others and they are spraying as often as 3 times a day for mosquitos. YIKES!

SEE ARTICLE BELOW
Mosquito Population Boom
If you've noticed more mosquitoes in the past few days, you're not imagining things. Mosquito control experts tell us some areas of Acadiana are seeing the highest level of mosquito infestation they've seen all year.

Mosquitoes have invaded Acadiana, producing more than 10 times the normal amount of the
bloodsuckers we're used to seeing.

Experts say there's a good reason for that. Counter clockwise winds, kicked up from Tropical Storm Lee, swooped up a big batch of dark rice field mosquitoes from parts of St. Martin and St. Landry Parishes, creating a big problem for other parts of Acadiana.

One of the hardest hit areas has been Acadia Parish. Areas like Iota, Mermentau, Estherwood and Morse are seeing large numbers of mosquitoes. One resident in Lyon's Point reported having to cover her head with a towel just to go to the mail box.

Add that to several days of rain after the storm and the mosquito population exploded. Experts say they're spraying everyday and in some areas, three times a day, to get it under control. We should expect to see an improvement by the middle of next week.

The good news is, there is no sign of disease or West Nile in the Acadiana area. Here's what you can do to protect yourself. Experts recommend following the 5-D's. Dress to protect, wear loose fitting, and light colored clothing that covers most of your skin. Use repellents containing Deet. Check around your home to drain areas of standing water where mosquitoes can lay their eggs. And avoid being outside at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most likely to bite.

You can blame your whole skeeter population rise on TS Lee.... We have had such dry weather that they went dormant for the most part.Once he came in and drop his tons of water, they revived and were able to hatch tremendously.I am in a total wet area,so we don't see much of a change. The gnats are what gets us.The skeeters don't bother too much.Onve in awhile we'll get one of those huge monster ones that feel like a vampire when they hit ya,but otherwise not too bad.

Julie,I have known to be a bit of a germaphobe.I can't stand people touching me.Not as bad as a Howie mandell kinda thing, but When I was a manager,I hated shaking someones hand or if I had a register, messing with peoples money.I always had a huge bottle of GermX on my file cabinet and a pocket one in my apron.I clean with clorox.Sometimes I'll 'freshen' with pinesol or mr clean...lol... but mopping,washing,wiping...everything is bleached....My dishwater has bleach,my autowaterer bucket system gets a bleach shot everyday....My porches get sprayed with bleach solution before hosing off....Chicken pens get sprayed down with bleach.... When I'm up at the shop, you smell bleach instead of seafood...lol.

Terri, you've got me tired just thinking about 3 miles on top of the many miles I do with these girls...lol... I used to walk 3 miles a day on my lunch break on the beach, then everything just started falling apart and I quit.I NEED to get walking again.I put on 25 pounds in the last yr and almost 80 over the last 5.I've started on the treadmill a lil,but it just seems sooo much harder..lol...At least on the beach their was things to look at. On the treadmill theirs too many distractions.(mom gimme dis, mommy i need dat, knock knock, woof woof...)...lol...

Two things we did that made a noticeable difference to us is (1) bought a HEPA air filter for the bedroom -- it picks up vast amounts of dog & cat hair & definitely has improved Jim's allergies - we both breathe better at night. The other thing was we bought a dehumidifier, it's in the front foyer & I empty it 3 times during every 24 hour period. The drier air inside has made the AC run more efficiently & the house feel cooler. We are religious about cleaning & replacing filters. These aren't necessarily what you'd classify as "germ-free" living procedures, but I believe they do help!

I have had to start spraying my legs down when I go for my morning walk because the mosquitoes are so bad!

Off to town to go pick up my supply of contacts & cleaner! then I think I'll make some bread & spaghetti & meatballs for supper. And a big tossed salad for the "healthy" factor.

My "experimental EE" laid her first egg & it is exactly what I thought! Carmelita is 1/2 Blue Andalusian & 1/2 Ameracauna, & she lays a pale ice blue egg -- very pretty!

Whiskey Bay, I added an extra 1/2 mile to my morning trek this morning, just got through icing my knees. I know I'll never get in shape if I don't push past "my comfort zone"! I know 3 women who lost vast amounts of weight without surgery & they all did it by walking - and the magic number is 6 miles a day. I'm not there yet but I'm 1/2 way there & on Oct 1st I'll start walking twice a day.

Have a good one everybody!
