Might I interject for a moment with a topic that has no revelance to anything we are discusssing? I need to know from the cooks if I can cook a turkey overnight on low, like 225-250 or will it be too dry? Anybody with a good method for a great Thanksgiving turkey I am all ears.

Have any of ya'll ever cooked a turkey in the ground ? Much like cooking a pig or goat in the ground , very , very tender . 225-250 lb turkey is kinda big , you might need a back hoe to dig the hole .

I figured between you and Terri I could get this figured out. I have cooked many a turkey, but have done it so many different ways that I forget which one was best. I just got a little 12 pound bird this year. Figured it would be easier to handle, easier to cook and not so much wasted. I am NOT a morning person so I was wondering if I could put it in the oven with the ham the night before, but I know that will probably make it too dry. I am more of a ham kinda girl and I've got it down pat, but not so sure about the bird.
