"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I'm glade they won but I have mixed feeling about LSU football and everything that has taken place this year. I guess I'm still chapped about the Lee / Jefferson thing and to add insult to injury, Miles goes and puts Lee in for only one play with 31 sec left on the clock. So he goes in for the last play of the game to kneel on it. Why send him in at all? I feel sorry for that kid because it's just wrong to do to anyone and he if anyone deserves better than that.

I'm just really disappointed in Miles and his thinking....They had the game at the end of the third quarter.

On a lighter note....LOL!...I set more eggs today!!! That's just what I needed to do. But even better than that, my Silkie eggs are going into lock-down in the morning!!

Welcome aboard!!!

I agree with you about putting that quarterback in for the last play. I don't think anyone liked that call.

Yea, if you have to win and everybody wants to win, play who you think is the best guy for that job. But like I said already, they had the game won at the end of the third quarter so why not give Lee the 4th quarter if for nothing else but a hey kid, you deserve it. If Lee screwed it up...there was enough cushion to take him back out and put Jefferson back in. I guess I would have thought more of Miles if he would have done that.

Ok, I'm getting off my box because I'm just getting riled up again with all this!!!

hey there & welcome!! we're a good crowd!!

Does anybody get the Greenfire Farms newsletter? I just love their creambar leghorns that lay blue eggs-- now that would do everything I want in a chicken!!!

Except, I am 100% committed to my peas for the coming year--- I have to find a 2 yr old white mate for Romeo & next week have estimates coming to finish the fence (also move some chainlink fence closer to the house) I hate to pay for this but we are just at that age plus physical shortcomings when we don't have a choice anymore.

I wont' be going to Westminster-- I hate like everything to lose this opportunity but you know, they have that dog show every year -- and I dont' want to be working only 8 weeks & then asking for a week off -- during the most busiest time of the year for a CPA firm -- jobs like this are just too scarce & I plan to hang on to this one -- I know next spring & summer I am going to be sooo happy to have these 3 day weekends.

What are you all cooking for Christmas dinner? I need ideas!!

Sorry that you won't be going to Westminster. I was looking forward to you going. I do understand your reasoning.

I don't get the Greenfire Farms Newsletter. I'm excited about this spring and your peas as well. Can't wait to get updates and pics when all the action begins. I started thinking about and talking to my builder about the pea nesting boxes. I have a lot of recycled wood left over to build the nesting boxes. I hope you find a mate for Romeo. I will keep my eyes open.

As far as Christmas dinner, nothing special here. It will be simple. If my male turkeys don't get this pecking order, who will be in charge marathon, I may eat one of them - just joking. I may just make a seafood gumbo or have ham, sweet potato/marshmallow casserole, green bean casserole, corn bread dressing, pasta salad, potato salad and pecan pie.

Oh, and I know about the addiction. My husband swears I'm going to end up on Hoarders. I'm on day 21 with some BCM eggs right now, and haven't had a pip yet (temp drop issues during cold snap), and he's openly thrilled.

Ass.

Yea, I decided that I would give hatching eggs a try. Well I bought a bator and to many eggs
big_smile.png
So I made a bator for the extra eggs then thought this is dumb, I should just get another bator like the first one. You know, one to incubate and one to hatch with. Well tomorrow or more like Monday/Tuesday will start my second hatch and I'm already filling up the bator for #3 and ordered eggs for hatch #4. Yea....I'm weak! My wife is ready to kill me. I spent the day working out in the barn (the barn and horses are her thing) just to make her happy

. She doesn't know I order more eggs!

Chris

Oooooooooo, I'm telling on you. You ordered more eggs. Ooooooooo, I'm telling.

Good morning La-yers! Waiting patiently for the Sunday paper to be delivered -- love the luxury of sitting around perusing the paper on slow Sunday mornings!

I'm on the lookout for a used GQF Sportsman or Dickey incubator if anybody knows of any --- I just sent a couple of inquiries to some Craigslist ads.

The hatching fever is hitting hard, lol!!!

I guess because it's so warm today. Gee we could almost turn the AC back on!

Have a good Sunday everybody! -- have a chicken (not one of mine) roasting in the oven & butter softening to make an apple crumb coffee cake!

MMMMUM apple crumb coffee cake is great Terrie, & roast chicken "ain't" too bad either in my book.

Well I'm 44 years old today! Boy oh boy where does it all go. Moms fixing me German chocolate cake for me as we speak, right now(mummumumn) and that'll take the edge off of it here in a bit. I'll have to wait 9 more days for my birthday/Christmas present I purchased from Mrs. kathyinmo for myself to get here. Mr brother from Ark. is bringing my 9 New Hampshires, 12/13 Barred Rocks, 2 Delawares, and 1 a surprise out of the F2 projects we (kathyinmo and a few of us others) are working on.

Anyway have a good day all you La-yers

Jeff

Still no pips on those eggs-day 22 now. Starting to lose faith. darn Louisiana temperature fluctuations! I guess I'm giving them until day 25 before I chunk them. Definitely my last hatch of the year, plus, I'm 34 and a half weeks pregnant and just can't deal with it right now, or for the next couple of months.

I sold 9 BCM chicks this morning.

The lady saw my silkies and wanted to buy some, so I told her to check back in the spring....I mean, if the populus demands it, right?
