"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Hi Louisiana chicken fans. A call out from Metairie by the lake.
My name's Yakfishgirl (I like to kayakfish) and we just got into the chicken fun with 5 chicks this summer. It's amazing what you'll do when your 14 year old daughter gets a wild hare.
We have two barred rocks, a BO, a brown leghorn and a white leghorn between 18-22 weeks old.
It's been fun trolling the site. Happy to find a Louisiana group.
I hope to chat it up with y'all more often.

One could call them Simmesport Shad-stompers,

whatever. Everybody that I've seen directly or indirectly related to the fishing industry around the Atchafalya has them and wears them religiously as daily attire(everywhere) and I find it amusing and amazing 'cause they are diffinitely not comfortable or at any way supportive for that matter. (Just sayin')

Hope everybody has a really nice & pleasant weekend & best of wishes for 2012 to you all! I'm going to enjoy my last Friday off until end of April, for New Years' Eve, my cousin invited us over to his house (walking distance from ours) he has just finished an outdoor stone oven & is going to be cooking up pizzas & later on we'll all go back in the field behind the old barn & shoot fireworks (so we don't upset all of our dogs back up at the houses). Think it will be a nice time!

Just work, work, work.... Had to work the whole Christmas weekend and it just seems like i've been so exhausted these past 2 weeks.

But, we'll be off this weekend.

Going tomorrow to gt my son some fireworks and we're just gonna chill at the house!

Well guys I’m on a roll now….LOL!

I got rid of 15 birds on Monday but pick up 2 more…Than I also hatched 6 in the last 7 days so I’d say my chicken math is working in my favor at the moment. LOL! Out of the 6 I hatched this week 4 are BR’s. They are from someone who shows BR’s but I have no idea what the line is, I got the eggs off someone on e-bay. If anyone is interested in some 7-day old BR chicks, I’ll make you a hell of a deal…..just come get them!! First come first serve just let me know.

Howdy All!!!!

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything.. I've been working working working!!! Anyhow, all my birds are doing fine. Seramas are still spoiled, my Trio of Coronations are wonderful and HUGE! By Black Australorps are just fine and boy my ROO is FREKIN HUGE! I think Twiley sent me a Jersey Giant egg in with the eggs I got from her earlier this year.

I am looking for a Buff Orphington Roo to go with my 3 buff hens.

Ducks!!! OMG.. Got duck eggs and Ducks EVERYWHERE!


I am starting on the breeding pens and hope to have them completed within the next few weeks.

Do we want to do any type of Spring event? I have a feed store that wants me to coordinate something with them. It is in West Monroe and it is a nice size feed/farm store.

And for all the folks that I have not had the chance ...
