"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Has anyone ever had Minorcas? I have a hatchery quality trio that I am really pleased with. They are a bit flighty, but they are laying machines! And quite nice to look at. I'll post some pics of them later. I looked into getting some show quality ones, but they want over $100 a bird

I may just have to wait on those!

I got a minorca. Altus, Oklahoma sold chickens their that had no breed names. I picked out two brown with back stripped ones and two almost or all black feathered ones, day old chicks or so... and only one was a female all black. The other is all black but like brown or yellow markings on her wings and body. She is a good chicken.

Chris - Matt has some of the breeds I want, but he won't have any available until later in the spring. He may, however, have a few more Barred Rocks. I sent a PM to him to confirm, but at most it would be 8 chicks. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from him.

Thanks!
Brandy
Yea 8 chicks won't be a problem at all. Just let me know!

I went to a local Asian Market on my lunch break and saw that they sold silkie meat. It was labeled "Black Meat". I darn near died when I saw it. I had to leave after that. Between the silkie meat and the octopus that was hanging in the freezer section, my visit was a short one. :/

Ewww! I don't think I would have been there long either!

Hey there La-yers checking in here. Well I've now sold 20 layers in the past few days and I'm getting my numbers back down to some closer to normal numbers. I got 12,50 for each hen outta these tight wads around here so that put "two-fittie"($250) back into the kitty for more laying pellets and biddie feed. I'm going to be getting rid of more but I got to get out there and get my breeders and keepers(replacements) for me too. "Out with old in with the new right?, right!"

Anyway I'm 'bout to start up my breeding project on the Delaware program that me and Mrs. Kathy (kathyinmo here on BYC) and a few others are projecting on, I will keep ya'll updated and pics posted if I can figure out how to do it right now that the format has changed up here.

Have a god one and happy farming to all ya'll La-yers and BYCers

Jeff

Way to go on the sell! :thumbsup

I am just glad I wasn't along for the ride...over 20 chickens inside a truck. The smell must've been killer!

Oh, and I delivered your mail today, LOL. The normal carrier was out, so I was called in to sub. I like your place, it is so nice and neat!

Thanks, It's a work in progress but I like it much more then where we were.

Chris
