"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Well I noticed a few of my Sebbie eggs went missing from under my goose, so I went on the hunt.  I located a rat snake within 2 minutes of my search.  In trying to capture said snake, I discovered ANOTHER RAT SNAKE hiding not even 4 feet away from where the first one was :th My dad has always gotten snakes in that feed room, but I've never had to deal with 2 at once.  So far this year, Gracie 2 - Snakes 0 :D   And don't bother telling me that I should re-home them because I got bit trying that last year.  No thank you!

I HATE SNAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go Gracie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup :bow :clap

No re-homing for me either. I re-home them alright - right to the burn bin and set them on fire !!!!!!!!!!! I HATE SNAKES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trying to re-home is NOT an option.

Sorry about the eggs. :hit

I was picking eggs yesterday and this is what I found. My chicken hatched a gosling. Another gosling was hatching last night under one of my Muscovy hens. I checked on it this morning and it hadn't made any progress from last night but it was trying. So, I helped it out. :hide It's drying out under the duck. I brought the one from last night inside. The other one will be brought in this evening when I get home. They were not setting in a secure place. Other ducks and chickens were going in and laying eggs in the areas that they were in. I hope that all of the other goose eggs that I have planted under chickens, ducks and turkeys all hatch.

I re-homed one(black-@$$ chicken snake) last evening about 11:30 pm. My burglar alarm(Granny my brindle LSGD/LCLD that's a "Catahoula cur" to most folk round these parts) LOL went off in the garage. I went out there and there it was coming in for a go at my brand new, just received RIRs I had gotten from Chris yesterday morning. Shame on'em he/she/it got a free pass to the "Happy hunting grounds in the sky" or whereever in the he-double-ll toothpicksticks snakes go when you lop of their heads. Not here for sure, there's enough wildlife and other critters out there in the woods for them and the arial predators to feast on, no easy meals here, noway. Doogooders/treehuggers need not reply, thanks

Way to go!

So I ordered more vaccines! I got Marek's, Newcastle, Bronchitus, and last night I vaccinated for fowl pox. So all the chicks I bring to the swaps will be vaccinated for those 4 things.

So last fall my neighbor calls me up and asks if I'm afraid of snakes. I say no. I know she is petrified of them. She says there is one in her chicken coop, she doesn't want to blow the back out of the coop with the gun, would I please bring a shovel over and whack it?

I agree. I am from Seattle, and have never seen a southern chicken snake. She gave no description on the phone.

So I get over there with my shovel, walk right up to the nest box and there lays a snake eating eggs that is longer than my shovel with a head bigger than my fist. I did not whack that snake. I did run backwards out of the coop.

My yelp must've spooked it and she shot it when it slithered out the back. We both have fake eggs planted all over to keep from having to deal with that again.

My Newcastle and Bronchitis should be arriving today. I just need to order my others! Will you be going to the chicken swap in Opelousas at Tractor Supply?
