"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good morning ya'll. I hope that everyone had a great weekend. Did anyone go to the chicken swap at Tractor Supply in Opelousas this weekend? Congrats to everyone on new babies and growing babies. So exciting.

I have a few reports from the weekend.

Well, I don't know if you all remember me telling you that I had a turkey hen that set up camp (went broody on eggs) across the street from me in a wooded field. Well, I had been going to check on her twice a day (AM

Awwww.....I want some bourbon reds sooooo bad!!!  :smack

Let me know where to deliver. :gig

We didn't get too much of anything yesterday. Just a few showers. And it really hasn't been too hot in my area. I hope we don't have a hot summer.

Ugh!! I hope this last week isn't an idication of our summer to come!!! Maybe it was just a fluke...rain clouds that were coming in trapping the heat and humidity or something!

Lol!

I could just tell him that the chickens really weren't late bloomers, just hiding their eggs to hatch. Once he realizes what happened he will already love them!! I could even drop them in a night I worked late, then early the next morning and let him "find" them. Maybe the neighbors lost a couple.... Hopefully the little one turns out to be a boy though, or how would we get babies with all girls???

Speaking of the little one. I did more online research and it seems that barred rocks are darker as females and lighter as males? If that's the case, its a girl. Will the week sick have a big impact on it's growth? Or did I unknowingly get a bantam? It should be about 3 months old now and is about 1/3 the size of the bigger chickens. I'm miffed!
