"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Check in everybody! We are all OK here - still raining & windy but nothing bad at all -- still have power on (knocking on wood)!!! lot of branches & leaves down.

My 3 guineas are missing -- they were hanging out under the fig trees yesterday evening but didn't come in to be locked up for the night so I figure they are holed up in those trees & will hopefully surface today.

The guineas will come back Terri.

Be safe over there.

We finally got some much needed rain and this morning it is still misting and a little windy at times I'm so glad the wind changed directions before it started in raining sure saved me a lot of mess when it comes from the East my barn is wide open on that end being that is the normal for hot southern areas anyway glad everybody else is good to go still yet. Still worried somewhat about Chris as he surely has gotten a lot of rain there (by looking at the radar anyhow) I don't think they had any real bad winds there not like tornadoes and such, that I have heard of but I'm sure he'll fill us in soon enough.

We made out fine. A ton of wind and rain last night, we got slammed all night, but all in all not bad for us. We lost power yesterday around 1 pm and we just got it back at 1:35 pm today. I'm here with 3 women (wife, mother in law and grandmother-in -law) and 2 little ones (mine and my wife's 10yr old sister). It's been interesting being the only guy around but really not bad at all. One of the horses coliced last night and we were up until 3:30am in the wind and rain pumping fluids in her but she is doing great now. All the chickens are fine and did what they were suppose to do, lol!

Well thats good Chris I know you know it could've been worse still yet theres lots of folk not so lucky as you today. we are getting a little bit of misty type rain here glad to get it too I hope it does it for the rest of the day and night maybe it'll give some that don't need it a break here soon. Everybody else take care as it "ain't" gone yet, still could be here for a while too the way its looking I been following it closely and it is in no hurry to leave La. for sure. It is to dry up north for Isaac and they don't like dry air they like our humid, thick, hot soupy air. Personally I'd give it my share and he could leave with it. LOL

Its like a swamp in my chicken coop right now. Was thinking bout putting down 3 to 4 inches of river sand down on the floor of the coop to keep it dry and to keep the smell down when it rains. Cause the smell is unreal after a good rain even though i keep it as clean as possible. Do yall think that would be a good idea?

I put white sand down in my coops and love it. I don't see why river sand would not work.
