Hi all!
I'm Shauna and I'll be getting my first chicks in a few weeks(hopefully). I am VERY excited!! My friend gave me her old coop. It needs work but I think it will be great to start. I have everything except the pine shavings and food.

I may be moving in June. How do
Chickens handle moves? It would still be in LA...just curious. If it's too much for them I might wait to get any until we are settled at a new place.

Welcome. What part of Louisiana are you from? I am near Baton Rouge. What breed(s) of chicken will you be getting?

I can't answer your question about moving, but good luck when you get your girls.

Hi! I am thinking of getting a Barred Rock, Gold-laced Wyandotte and an Easter Egger. I'm in the Fort Polk/Leesville area. :)

to BYC!

They will do fine. It does take them a few weeks to really get settled in, but soon the forget the ordeal and are back to doing what they do.

Great to have you aboard and enjoy BYC!

Thanks for the warm welcome!! I can't wait to get my chicks! Another question. Will they be ok in the suppressive Louisiana heat? Are there things I have to do to keep them cool?

HEY - I just left Leesville and moved to Buffalo TX.

I discovered this site and joined up a few minutes ago.

Good Luck!!
