Hi, it's nice to have you here! I see you're in New Zealand...is it winter there now?

We have recently moved up to Northland and we've just done a similar thing to you. We love our lifestyle block and recently hatched Muscovy ducks who are just about to move out to their huge new coop. They are to go along with our many chickens (we have quite a variety of breeds).

It might be easiest to hatch your own as then you can get some good birds from good breeders no matter where they are in the country. If you are on Facebook there is a New Zealand Silkie Club who you could contact to find a breeder. I've seen the odd person working on bearded Silkies here too (the majority of Silkies here aren't bearded), but you don't see them very often. They are very sweet birds.
