Hi, thank you so much for responding. My chicken’s comb been turning black at the end now and then but never stayed black a long time. He also sneezes a lot and would occasionally close his eyes while standing, almost like he’s in pain. He shakes his head a lot as well. I can hear him breathing too. However, he’s been eating and drinking well so I have no idea what is going on with him.

It could be some form of chronic respiratory disease. Dark tinted combs can also indicate heart or circulatory issues, but the fact he has raspy breathing and sneezes makes me favour the former.

It sounds like he has a mild respiratory infection. If he starts to gurgle while breathing he may benefit from a course of Tylan 50 treatment. You may want to post to the ER Forum for further opinions.
