Grew up with chickens but being married to a solider I was never able to own chickens. We retired in Louisiana and have had chickens for over 10 years now

I have 12 chickens now

6 cream legbars, 1 giant Cochin, 1 production red, 2 prairie bluebells, 1 Cuckoo Maran, 1 French Maran

Cochin bantams, my very first breed. Not raising them right now because eggs are too small but I plan to acquire a few as I love to look at them.

I love to garden and this year due to the stay at home order I have a good one. Veggies and flowers

Husband is retired military and drives over the road. I work for the military as a Help desk technician. 2 gran-kids that come to visit all the time. I like to give my daughter a break once in awhile. I own a Great Dane "Tula" and 3 cats

Congratulations on being able to again have chickens. You have certainly come to the right place to talk about them!

I totally agree about the cochin bantams. I have two right now, and I absolutely adore watching them. They think they are HUGE and will run off full-sized chickens and runner ducks. They do think twice about the geese, however. One of the little girl's defense tactics is to scream as loud as she can at anyone or anything that veers too close to her world. Eggwise, however, you're right about them being too small.

Glad to hear your gardens are going well. It's truly satisfying to raise your own, isn't it?

Welcome to BYC! Glad to have you!!
